Ygor/Igor was Bela Lugosi's character in Son of Frankenstein, who was sort of the main evil mastermind behind the Monster's revival. And I think Lugosi's character wasn't even a traditional hunchback but had a busted neck (hence why most of the town had thought him dead).

What a coincidence. I just got done watching Son of Frankenstein. You're right on the money. Ygor was hanged but survived it.

It's a good one! So far as the Universal Monster sequels go, the Frankenstein films are upper-tier in quality. It's weird that Bela Lugosi is so prominent in Universal movies, but is mostly absent from their Dracula franchise aside from the original film. And that man LOVED playing Dracula too.

I don't own any of the NECA stuff, but if they pair Leo up with something good and do a great design I could be tempted. Even if not, still looking forward to seeing what the rest are.

Love the ad reminiscent of the old commercials.

I'll probably get it, but I don't love it. I think it's interesting that they're not going to have all four ready to go at once. Raph is up for preorder and Leo is "more info to come in 2022".

Really, as much as it would suck I would probably have kept these a secret until next Halloween. They've got tons of product out already, it's not like they needed to get something going to generate buzz and revenue. Getting just one turtle, Raph, in the spring is going to feel so random. Getting all four in early October 2022 would have been a lot of fun and would have definitely driven more impulse buys.

Maybe the leak kind of forced their hand?

That is what they went with? Yeaaah... it's well done and looks neat for what it is, but not what I was hoping they'd do for Leo. I didn't really have any particular monster in mind, but not that... I mean, come on, Ygor/Igor isn't really even a "monster" either, he's just a guy with deformities who may or may not be bad depending on what version you're looking at.

Ah well.... they saved me some money by not choosing to do something really cool with him.

edit: Are they doing a particular theme and another is going to be Dr. Frankenstein?

These look really cool but aren't really for me.

However, they do make me realise how much I'd love to see NECA do their own TMNT line with their own takes on the characters as the look of these is incredible.

Totally agree. Although my wallet is screaming, & I couldn't even keep up with the other NECA lines, I'm really starting to want these. Man, they look SO cool.

I don't think Universal has any particular claim on "The Fly" lore (20th Century Fox/Disney), so I imagine it would just be a generic thing if they did.

I guess there are supposed to be some big NECA social media reveals tonight, although I don't know if TMNT factors into any of the plans.

It's funny because the fred wolf line was theoretically my dream line and I fell off it hard because of how overwhelming it was to keep up, both in cost and availability.

You know what though? I actually miss buying different versions of the turtles, I slowly realized that with fred wolf line, the turtles themselves are.... kind of the best part.

And I love it when the turtles are gross! Give me weird lookin' turtles. Bring on the variants. So this line is like an instant buy to me. Bonus points for maybe actually being able to grab these things easily.
