Upcomming "WB Games Montr?al" Batman game

So yeah there's a new Arkham game that is being teased for over a year now. The first official tease was at last year's Batman Day. Now, with the upcomming DC Fandome, there was a new tease yesterday in a short video:

https://twitter.com/WBGamesMTL/statu...432407553?s=20

There was a code in the teaser that gives an IP adress that leads to this website https://r3dakt3d.com/ there is a countdown to some other tease. Supposedly, there will be something new everyday leading up to the official trailer release. It may be this Friday wich is a day before the DC Fandome.

Edit:
Day 1: The code gives us a map: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EfovP4VW...pg&name=medium
Day 2: A puzzle to solve that gives another piece of the same map. The two combined gives: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Efyr0ToU...name=4096x4096
Day 3: A picture where you needed to find roman numbers that gives the new piece of map. Combined together the map looks like this now: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ef34_RTW...name=4096x4096
Day 4: Password gives a cryptic video...https://www.youtube.com/watch<br /> ...ture=emb_title

It's almost confirmed at the point.

Day 2: A puzzle to solve that gives another piece of the same map. The two combined gives: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Efyr0ToU...name=4096x4096

I am completely over marketing campaigns like this. These companies drag these announcements out over months, riding on the hardcore fans to talk it up and spread the word, without actually giving them anything substantial to whet the appetite. It was bad enough having a game announced with CG trailer that gives you no indication of how it will actually play, but these nothing-twitter posts that go one for months are even worse.

I like those reveal. I mean, they can just give the trailer this friday and thats it. But you have something leading us to it which makes people talking about it. It was really fun when they did that for the Portal 2 reveal. In the end, we get a trailer. You can just ignore it and it would be the same.

Sure, "ignore it" is pretty much a shutdown for any complaint, but when discussing the way a studio markets a game, I find this really lame. Especially because they first teased the Court of Owls angle back in September of 2019. It's ridiculous to still be playing twitter games a year later. Show us something. The reason it frustrates me is because these viral campaigns are designed to put in as little effort as possible while the fans get excited and do the marketing for you, but they are essentially giving us nothing to get excited about in return. Clearly it is working for you, so more power to you.

I often feel the same way. I've spoken of it in the past, generally with movies and most prominently with things like the first Ghostbusters teaser I think.

It's not that I'm immune to getting excited for things, I'm more just the "I'll get excited when I see something worth being excited about" type. Fact is, I often get a little TOO excited for things! Just, y'know selectively.

Anyways, yeah, another Batman game. "Whoooo."

You don't like Batman games? It's been five years since the last one. And they are already doing something else with the Suicide Squad game. And there is talks about a new Injustice game.

And it as been revealed that if you combine the 4 codes 761-941-364-995 (364 and 995 are the codes for tommorrow and Friday) It gives you de barcode of one particular comic book:

So maybe it might be a Batgirl game? Or she's a playable character?

Not "bad", just... eh. I like the Arkham games just fine, quite a lot in fact, it's simply already been done to death. Squad's got a movie coming out, but otherwise they're not generally a property people flip over, so the fact they're getting a game sounds like a WB mandate for synergy more than anything. I can't imagine a ton of people ASKING for that, more like WB said "This is the property we want you to care about, so Here." It's just, the first non-Batman, non-Injustice game they've done in almost two decades... and it's the Suicide Squad? C'mon. ZERO chance that would be the next project if there wasn't a movie on the way. So even if it ends up being good - and I do hope that it is - they're still doing it for the entirely wrong reasons.

15 years since we had a game with "Superman" in the title. Wonder Woman's had zero. Aquaman had one game forever ago and it was lousy. All Flash has to his name is a couple crummy handheld games and, I think, a mediocre Master System game. Green Lantern had two generally good games (the PS3/Xbox 360 and Wii versions of the game are so different despite being released at the same time that they really need to be considered totally separate games), but no follow-up. And so on.

Another Batman game will undoubtedly be good, so I don't have any concerns in that vein. It's just that More Of The Same doesn't thrill me when there's so much they COULD be doing. I know that it's "The Business" but still, it's annoying. And WB's complete over-reliance and slavish devotion to Batman across ALL media at the expense of the rest of their stable is really getting under my skin at this point, despite being a huge fan.

Can't say it shocks me even a little, it's just... eh.
----------

I did hear some strong rumors recently about Batgirl being a playable character, so I think it's safe to go ahead and call that Confirmed.

From all the superheroes that you named, I only see Wonder Woman to be feasible.

How can you make a game about a guy that can fly everywere and destroy everything, a guy that can run fast around the world, a guy that can swim in 70% of Earth water or a guy that goes in space making green... everything.

You would have to make the entire earth an open world with space and oceans.

Batman is easier to make because he's more human and limited in where he can go. You cant give invisible walls to superman or the Flash. Or make them say something stupid like: "I don't have any business in that direction so, I'm not going there".

So yeah. Wonder Woman. Maybe the version that can't fly would be the best.

Let me play as Batgirl with a Bat-cycle and I'll forgive your crappy marketing campaign.

From Arkham series I liked Asylum the most. Best setting, best story, best fighting system.

City felt bloated and story was crap, Origins had the best gameplay and story, but city looked like crap and Knight was a bloated mess with too much focus on a batmobile and nonsensical storyline.

I didn't even finish Knight. Way too much focus on the Bat-tank.

I'm in the rare case where Origin is my favorite of the bunch. I really liked the story, the boss battles and the detective work (I want more of that).

Today was a picture where you needed to find roman numbers that gives the new piece of map. Combined together the map looks like this now: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Ef34_RTW...name=4096x4096

Origin did some things better than the others, such as character design, story, boss fights, and even the city itself had taller buildings and a bigger scale than the first two, if I remember correctly. At the same time, it felt less polished to me. The intro just sort of threw you in without any of the fun build-up you get in the Rocksteady games and that lack of care was felt throughout the rest of the game.

My favorite is Arkham Knight, despite the overuse of the Batmobile, which was definitely a problem. Everything else worked really well for me though. Sure, Joker was overused at this point, but it was another good performance. The graphics and atmosphere come together incredibly, and calling upon the Batmobile at your own leisure, as it speeds around the corner to meet you is still one of the coolest feelings in videogames.

My only issues with the Batmobile was that they forcefully incorporated it into every boss fight and that they turned it into a tank just to squeeze more playtime out of it.

The tank combat itself is mechanically sound and a decent diversion from the regular flow, but it's still out of place for Batman and therefore, doesn't need to be there. Other than that, and maybe even the Arkham Knight reveal, everything else was top notch, including the Batmobile itself.

The combat, stealth, graphics, scope, and storytelling was already so much better than the previous games, but the inclusion of the Batmobile really completed the package. It wasn't just satisfying to control and drive around in, but its implementation was phenomenal because it was more than just a vehicle to use for traversal, but an extension of Batman's arsenal.

Let see if the rumors about it being a Batwoman or Batgirl are true or if it will be another game with Batman. About Batwoman... The tv series started on November and i have watched all 20 episdoes so far. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batwoman_(TV_series) It is way more violent than any Batman cartoon and video game and also has some realy instresting story and new characters . I recomend you to watch the series if you havent already. I didnt know anything about her until the series got announced 1 year ago and then it started on November but it is very good!

I'd really like to see the stealth mechanics evolved. Rocksteady did a great job but then sort of rested on it after that.
Metal Gear Solid is probably too high a standard, but The Last of Us pt 2 was able to implement some really great stealth mechanics and I'd like to see the same done here.
