All of these are so cool. Why would these owners even want to sell?

Many of them are probably comic shops. These went from Kevin, to Diamond, to the Shops, to customers. So many of the shops are putting them on ebay instead of making them available to their customers. Which from a monetary perspective, is probably smart.

I'll be keeping an eye on this one, although I would wager it's going to sky rocket above my price range.

Yeah I hear ya. It was only at 99 cents when I found it and now its at 53 something. I bet this one will top the $150ish mark. It is a beautiful cover.

The prices these things are getting at is making me chuckle. If recent sketches like this are going for this much, all us vintage turtle art collectors must have a small fortune on our hands.

What's really unbelievable is that some sellers are ending their auctions early (likely selling for a flat price offer) when there's yet to be an auction that "goes the distance" and sets what the market will bear for these. I'm sure all of these will slightly vary in their final price depending on character demand and artwork but I can't imagine that anyone's offering these guys the price for which they would get by letting it sell via auction.

I suspect a fair amount of shill bidding going on as well. I bid on one and was out bid within 3 min. this was 6am east cost time with 6 days left on the auction. Yeahhhhh right, I tapped out.

Selling them off ebay avoids the fees. Could be a factor but ur right theres like 6 on my watch list that have ended today. WTF are they thinking?

Totally agree...I would have bailed as well. In some regard though I can't fault sellers for taking the firm money now vs. a possible non-payer later (with maybe more $$ potential). I've had numerous past auctions end with a bidding war and then the winning bidder doesn't pay. I've even had auctions where I've tried 2nd chance offers with the top 3 bidders and never heard back from any of them. It's totally lame...I wish eBay would come up with a better punishment for non-payers...the current system totally benefits the buyers.

Nope,

''The prestigious CGC Signature Series label (yellow) is applied to comic books that have been signed by someone of significance to the comic, under the direct observation of a CGC employee or select CGC authorized witness.''

I believe these comics would be graded with a Green ''Qualified'' label.

''A Qualified label is used by CGC for certified books that have a significant defect that needs specific description, or to note an unauthenticated signature (one which was not witnessed by CGC). For example, it would be a disservice to the seller and buyer to call a VF/NM book with a 4-inch back cover tear a VG, so CGC will give this book a Qualified grade of "VF/NM 9.0, back cover 4-inch tear." Or, if the book is signed on the cover it may be noted as "Name Written on Cover."
