Well, good luck, it's different companies so no telling if it'll impact the TMNT or not. The Sonic people decided to rework it, while the PD people only reworked what was easy (title and Shredder actor) and got mad at us for design criticism. With PD still involved that's gonna come down to their own willingness to pay attention and not just go with that they themselves like, which I'm not holding my breath on.

I see what Andrew means. It's kinda subtle, and I'm sure an individual's eyesight (or lack thereof) combined with what they're looking at the pictures on (laptop vs tablet or phone) is a factor, but there's just something a slight bit "off" about the faces, versus the bodies, which are fine.
Like, not terrible or unable to be salvaged, but the heads are definitely more "cartoony" than the bodies are, and would be well-served with a bit of a tweak so as to fit better. If you really can't see it, I assume you wear glasses and/or are looking at them on a smaller screen. Blown-up, it's fairly obvious what Andrew was getting at. Not "bad", but... kinda... I'unno if "uncanny valley" fits this or not, but, yeah, it's not quite a perfect fit.

So, no news yet? We'll just have to wait then. The basic gist of this thread is the PD is doing another film, not connected to the other 2, with a possibly more mature, darker story or possibly just the same flavor and tone that we already had but with different actors and a different story. It's also possible that they wait so long that a new TMNT film won't happen for a good long while, due to Covid-19 or otherwise, but would a studio risk that for licensing reasons? What if their deal runs out?
Either way, as far as art style, most (on this particular thread anyway) want a TMNT that is going to be more mature with a design that is something closer to a hybrid of 87 cartoon TMNT/1990 movie TMNT/Mirage TMNT. If the story tackles the origin, it better be something NEW and unprecedented while still being faithful enough to what has come before... and don't link the ooze to Saki. Or I won't buy a ticket. |

Makin' me click here hoping someone found some hint of info... lol Already looked around earlier hoping some word of it would surface. Nada. Again.
I mean, come on now...it has been nearly two years since we heard they put Andrew Dodge on the task of writing it (along with Lindsey Beer whose name turned up later). Understandable that the virus may halt film productions, but for one still in pre-production, what more do they need to progress on the plan, or at least the plans for the plans, beyond some Zoom meetings? Would be nice to at least know if it's still on the table and where it's at presently. I'd still rather they just skip the origin and just go into an original story post-Shredder years. Safer for this company to keep its hands off the old material and not try to redo it in some stupid way. Would be harder to criticize an original adventure that's a good story so long as they get the Turtles and the general gist of TMNT right. Buuuut it's been written already, far as we know, so that mystery is hiding in some computer files out there somewhere. |

Someone should leak the scipt online (it's probably a MAJOR TURKEY anyway) but then, of course, everyone gets so litigious these days, that might cost someone a career. |

I have to imagine they are stuck at the moment. They know they messed up by pushing forward in a headstrong manner with, frankly, bad material.
They've suffered for it and they can't repeat the same mistake. They know they need to get the concept right before moving forward this time. But they don't know how. And the scripts they're paying for are awful. That's my wild guess, anyway. In this scenario, It's a matter of hoping for the right director to join the project and take control. |

Yeah, this is one of those scenarios where I really do think you need someone who understands the source material. That?s true for many adaptations, but especially so here.
Not that I?m holding my breath, but I have far more hope in a Netflix-style, live-action series of great quality coming to fruition, with “Daredevil” being the obvious comparison, and beacon of light for the studio who would produce the show. That seems to the better route for a mature take on the franchise, at this point. I‘ve sort of stopped hoping for a good TMNT movie, but this could be even better, IMO. |

I hope they get another movie going. Paramount already officially announced a sequel to the Sonic Movie. So let's hope they announce another TMNT movie. Whatever the next one is going to be. It will be rebooted with new actors. But I want them to keep Bebop and Rocksteady and Krang.

I rather see more FW elements. There are so many we haven't seen done in live action.

I think because of what the last movie gave us, what Nick has done with the property since 2K12, we are in DESPERATE NEED to get back to a grounded version of TMNT. We need a movie that forgoes the fanciful stuff and gives us a standard action/superhero film without a lot of the cartoonier elements, something akin to what Kevin and Peter had originally created. Let's save Krang and the sci-fi stuff for sequels guys. Ninjas, action, low key, introspection. Save the epic battles for later. Just to get this thing off the ground again and flying again, keep it simple and give us a great action movie.

No, OK? Some Fred Wolf elements can be tolerated with modification but actively trying to resemble the Fred Wolf cartoon will only hold things back.
