I have a problem as well (didn't see that coming, did ya? ) I have Window's Media Player Skins that I downloaded off the internet for my account (the internet only works on one account only, "Family". I don't know why). I want to be able to select these new skins in my account, but I can't. I looked up the help desk, but all it pretty much says is "I want to watch you suffer, so I won't help you". I don't know if this is a small problem or not, but can anyone help me? I'd be very grateful. And I mean very grateful

Man, I'm seriously about to kill my router...
I'm trying to pull my DS online, but the auto setup not working. I need to get the DNS info, but it's not stored in the router's IP. Do I need to call the internet provider to get it? |

The router usually pulls it automatically from the internet provider. You could always call the provider and ask for it yourself. The router should do that on its own, though. Maybe your router's messing up? I really don't like routers. Either I'm stupid, or they fail on me a lot.

If you have ahead's Nero Burning software, there's a converter included.
Oh, and I merged this thread with the tech support thread.

dbPowerAMB is quite nice. But it's 30-day trial.

Yup, the stuff's not plugged in properly. I'd check all the cables on both ends. If you're not computer experts and the cables are attached as they should be, then I'd go and see somebody from tech support.

Well... I probably shoulda mentioned that my dad is a computer expert, hehe. It's what he does for a living, though he didn't really look at it, so he might have missed something. I was just looking for suggestions. But thanks Anarky, I'll have him try that.

Try out VirtualDubMod. Preferably the older version of it.

Wow... been a while since I've had to post in here. Heh.
Bad news. I broke the computer. Big time. Here's what's goin on: I installed WinXP over W2k, everything was going fine until the part where it has to restart after you install the OS. It loads up to a black screen that says something along the lines of push any key to load from CD. If I do that, it takes me back to the WinXP installer... to reinstall the OS. If i don't, it gives me an error about not being able to load the partition. I've tried reformating with the recovery disc that came with the computer, I've tried reinstalling W2k, and I've even tried XP with diffrent formats... nothing's working. Infact, when I put in the disc that came with the computer, to go back to ME, it loads up a Win98 thing in what appears to be DOS. While it's fun to dig around in this, it's not really doing anything important... Ai, if you can solve this one, you'll get a cookie. It might be stale by the time the package reaches you, but damnit, you'll get a freakin cookie. plzkthx? Oh, and the XP installer is an upgrade disc... not a full version. Edit: It has something to do with the NTLDR. I think I found a solution, but I wanna know what your advice is. |

Know someone that has XP near you? If its the NTLDR maybe trying to get an XP NTLDR on floppy, then using a Win 98 boot disk on a floppy as well, http://freepctech.com/pc/002/files010.shtml, from there, and then in the dos command line and copy the ntldr to the C: drive by copying the ntldr you got off someone else by using the ATTRIB.exe command to see system files. I don't know if that will work, but it might, it's worked for me before. That was my attempt at this thread, seeing how no one replied and im bored.

I am in deep need of guidence here.
I downloaded eDonkey so I could try out some different styles of music before I go to Best Buy and purchase some more albums, but I'm having hell getting it to work. I am on a wireless router and I need to know how to configure the router to forward the applicable ports to my computer running eDonkey2000, but I am clueless on how to do this. I keep getting a lowid on the network and my download speeds are slow if not practically non existant. I've got the eDonkey2000 ports set as follows: TCP Port: 9217, UDP Port: 5468 How do I get the wireless Linksys router to allow eDonkey full access to the network?
