The fact that these aren't perfect copies doesn't detract from me that they're great-looking pieces of plastic (minus the derp eyes) but every time a new set of figures based on this series is announced that doesn't look like they did on the show, i get a bit down.

Yeah I wish these were the original cartoon designs all together. It's really pretty nuts that we've never gotten the correct representation of the original cartoon turtles for all of these years. These look good from a stock art perspective, obviously, but I think I'm going to pass on these unless they have tons of interesting accessories or come with something really great we haven't seen yet.

Not exactly, the stock art typically had little to now shading, we're not 3D and had a black outline around their bodies.

That's because the retro art is drawn artworks and SH Figuarts figures are physical figures. Are you even for real?

But yeh, keep telling yourself life is fair and everyone does their job properly... keep desperately scratching around for theoretical technicalities...

The cartoon-inaccuracies on these figures are a mistake stemming from poor research. Period.

Virtually nobody was asking for promotional-art based figures, and 99% of the people who are happy these figures look like the promo art are just easy-going-types who would have been equally happy with 100% cartoon accurate versions had they been shown instead. People like that just don't like people raining on the "these figures are perfect" parade so pathetically stick up for companies mistakes and mock the hardcore fans for daring to dream bigger and better. CARTOON-ACCURATE figures is what the vast majority want, and these are so close. Why not make those minor tweaks to take them to the next level?

Unfortunately like many other toy giants, BlueFin doesn't seem to have any clear way for fans to contact them, giving the clear message that fan feedback or interaction is not really wanted, besides empty claims in interviews to boost PR. "Send your suggestions, we care about the fans, we want these to be the best figures ever, blah blah blah...". Yet no contact us forms on their websites, questions to social media pages get ignored... and they likely adopt the famous MattyCollector attitude of "it's too late to change anything" the moment the first protos are shown. Basically "lol, nerds...".
If Bluefin were able to make 100% accurate OT figures, I'm sure they would have - as others have speculated, it's likely Nick dictating that the figures match the retro art. It's probably in their official style guide, which is why everything that's based on the classic cartoon essentially uses the same style, from T-shirts to the Playmates figures to other ancillary merch.

Either way, not interested in anything to do with the OT, but if this opens the door for other incarnations of the Turtles, then I hope they sell like gangbusters...

I will report back when they send out solicitations. I can order a case of these for each turtle and probably still move theses just fine. If they are the same size as the Megaman X/Zero stuff or Iron-man stuff they will be 20-24 per case. I should be able to swing that and carry these.

Will post in this thread again when I am able to order with pricing, etc.

I was being sarcastic. They aren't EXACTLY like the art. I know they're 3d figures.

Welp, glad I never got around to getting any of Playmates' Classic Collection figures now! These look WAY more show-accurate! Hope these do well enough so we could possibly see a Shredder with this much care put into it!
