Alopex vs Zodi... Oh, boy! The match-up we never knew we wanted, but now can't wait to read about!

Just as I predicted, Null's story will be continually handled in Universe or spinoff's. To this day Null has never appeared in the main ongoing. Tom Waltz has never written the character himself.

Perhaps it's better this way. The main series has too many villains, Null's arc makes a better secondary villain for Universe or mini's.

Yeah, I was going to edit my post to add that but you beat me to the punch. I've learned to be okay with that fact and actually started to like it. It doesn't make her any less impactful as a villain, or any less of a big bad. I still hope she is ultimately dealt with for good by the Mutanimals, though, even if they have to team up with the Turtles again to do it.

What's also interesting is what this tells us about events over in the main ongoing. This arc will be released during the late stage of the Triceraton invasion, so how did Raph and Alopex find the downtime to go investigate Null Industries? And what's their motivation? It sounds so akin to the recent dealings with the Pantheon that maybe something happens before the invasion is routed that makes them move Null up in the list of priorities. Hmm...

At this point I'm inclined to believe that it's just due to scheduling the release of issues in the main series and TMNTU, and this story will take place after the conclusion of Invasion of the Triceratons that will come out the following month. IDW wouldn't want to wait a month to release a TMNTU issue just because the story it comes after in the main series hadn't come out yet. I imagine this story will have an editor's note explaining where it fits chronologically, but that's just speculation on my part.

I do kinda wish they had brought back Allor and Kuhn since this story will feature Null, but I'm still excited all the same.

I wonder if we'll see any hybrid mutants in this story

“Service Animals,” Part 1 of 2. Raphael and Alopex go undercover at Null Industries. They find more than they bargained for, including very angry mutants!
Oh man I can't wait to see who else is going to be introduced

Aweeeeeeeeesome.

Love the title, love the idea of going undercover at Null, love that we're getting Zodi back.

Aw yeah.

Just kill off the Raph/Alopex shipping and this would be 10/10!

Looks to be a very promising issue! Can’t wait!

With stories like these coming out, it really makes me glad we have Universe now. With it, the crew at IDW have been able to introduce and flesh out both new and old characters, and tell all kinds of stories. Which they couldn’t really do without this second book.
Makes you wonder how we managed without it.

We didn't! The Universe is just the micro series but numbered uniformedly. Makes it easier to keep track of I think.

What is up with the red garb ninjas in the RA cover? Foot Clan never wore the color beyond video game variants.

It's probably just for a cover, either way Karai's Foot wore red in Nick.

They're reminiscent of, but not quite like

I think For the Heart From the Herd is the first time we've had a Universe story to parallel with the main line. They're not going to do that all the time.
