Wasn't that an awesome comeback?! It was especially sweet after all that mess the French were talking.

I found myself watching that diving as well yesterday. I wouldn't stay up at night to watch or it anything, but I honestly didn't think it was too bad. I think its pretty impressive how sycronized they can be when diving from 3 stories up.

And the men's team snuck a bronze in gymnastics which was cool too.

I'm enjoying watching the beach volleyball in the small amounts I've caught it on tv. It's very exciting and full of "highlight plays" to keep the average, non volleyball fan interested. From what I've seen the US guys are crazy good.

Yeah yeah Beach Voleyball is one of my favorite along with swimming, basketball, and regular volleyball. Rogers and Dalhausser(sp?) are playing much better after they got upset in the first round. May and Walsh are dominating, as expected. It's fun to watch.

Phelps is the talk of the country right now! What a great inspiration for future swimmers!

That does suck. The bball team always plays at 8 or 10 in the morning....when I'm working. I got my first day off in 2 months today and just my luck they played yesterday and again tomorrow.

Phelps finished it off 8 for 8 last night. It was a fun week, but it's going to give the olympics an anti climactic feel. Nothing close to being as exciting as Phelps. I mean there's still basketball and beach volleyball, but that's about it for me. I don't find track and field very interesting and they did the 100m dash the first night, that's the best one. I'm also pretty sure all track and field in primetime will be taped, not live.

Doping

I used to like swimming and track and field until 2004/2005 or something when it looked like everybody used doping (especially in track and field). Now I prefer the team sports (like basketball, soccer and team handball), with at least not so much doping.

Michael Phelps will be the talk of the country for some time now. It's nice to see history of this magnitude achieved in our lifetime. I also think, with him being only 23 years old, he probably has what it takes to dominate the next Summer Olympics.

Bolt from Jamaica also has been worth watching. Boy, can he fly!

But yeah, the coverage kind if sucks for the games. I remembered when several networks aired different games until NBC bought up the sole rights to air them, which kind of limits what and when we can watch them. Hell, I cant evern seem to find replays on the internet.

I haven't had any problems with the coverage. Yeah stuff isn't always live(track and field), but that's not NBC's fault. I've got all 8 channels that are carrying the Olympics, maybe that's why. I just watch the more obscure sports on my laptop while watching stuff on tv. It's been great.

I have only four channels. If I want more in my area, it's gonna cost me an extra 50 bucks a month, and I just dont think it's worth it. Sucks. I am rooting for McClain Ward to bring home a gold in the Show Jumping, and would like to see it, but that won't happen.

I also wish I could see the footage of Phelps cheering on his team mates, but I don't know what race that was and what day it was run.

It's all I did yesterday.

Went to our home opener on thursday against Eastern Illinois(I go to Central Michigan). Don't remember the first half much because I was hammered drunk. I love tailgate. Next week we travel to #1 Georgia. Uh-oh.

I watched the Clemson - Alabama game and
the Utah - Michigan game.

With respect to the last message, tailgating is fun! Just
remember to hit the washroom before halftime. I made
that mistake at a Lions game at the Silverdome back
a few years ago!

I'm from London, Ontario. We have fans for both Detroit and Buffalo.
That was actually the game I saw during the American Thanksgiving.
I'm a Green Bay fan and I really feel for Detroit fans. I was hoping the
shiny new stadium would bring some good luck!

College-wise, I'm an Ohio State fan, but I have lots of respect for
the Wolves and the Spartans. Most of the college football fans here
are Wolverine fans. College football is somewhat popular here in Southwestern
Ontario because we pick up affiliate stations from Detroit, Erie, Cleveland,
and Buffalo which carry coverage of the games on Saturday.

Sports threads?

Why don't we have special sports threads, just like music?

If you mean separate threads for each sport, the people who regularly post about sports here felt that it would be more convenient to have a single thread, since it would be easier to keep it active. See page 6 for more information.
