Hahaha! Incredible!

Also, Leo...did you not say in the OOTS thread you play more games than almost anyone? You're...kind of saying the exact opposite now.

Not exactly. I said I play more than a lot of people, which is technically true, but more than "anyone" is pretty presumptuous. You, for example, probably play more than I do based on what I've read. You're pretty hardcore, and have played a ton of stuff I've never even heard of. Also, I don't play as many games when they're *current* as many others do. I play a ton of stuff, but usually I'm about 5 years behind the curve, at least.

Check it: I grew up kinda poor and only had a handful of NES and SNES games to play. As a teen, I mostly played and collected games I missed as a kid. At 18-25, I mostly went for games I missed as a teenager. And so on and so forth. I also am just as likely to replay stuff from ten or more years ago as I am something that's brand new, so that keeps me a little behind the curve as well. I have no real sense of urgency to play a game when it's new, for some reason.

It's weird, I know, I'm just like that with games and always have been. I had a Coleco-Vision/Atari when all my friends had an NES, got an NES when all my friends moved on to Genesis, etc. I don't feel I'm missing out, as I do get to almost all the "good stuff" eventually, I just don't feel like I have to play them at the same exact time as everyone else does.

But I've played a few more "modern" games that I really liked. These are just personal favorites, not a statement declaring them better than this, that, or the other.

They won't be on anyone's "Best Of" anything list, but I've probably spent more hours playing the WWE games on 360 than anything else. They pretty much got a little better every year.

I just started playing GTA IV (yeah, IV, not V, shut up) and so far it's pretty good. The last one I played at length was Vice City, which I really enjoyed, but a lot of stuff in IV is greatly improved.

Heavy Rain was very controversial, but I thought it was fun and different. I wouldn't exactly want to play a hundred games like it, but at the time I played it it was just what I was looking for.

Batman: Arkham Asylum would probably be the most obvious choice. I haven't played Arkham City yet, but I'm sure it's just as good.

Sonic Generations was a lot better than I expected it to be; I literally haven't had thumb cramps like that since like the early-90s. I had a lot of fun with that one.

All the Fight Night games were great, and I generally give less than a sh*t about boxing.

Fighting games are something else I don't mess with much, but Mortal Kombat and Injustice: Gods Among us are among the best I've ever played.

Ghostbusters really surprised me. For a licensed game based on an ancient franchise that's been on life support for over 20 years, that game was lots of fun and hit all the right nostalgic notes as well. It needed a playable Ecto-1 level, but you can't have everything.

I got heavy into DC Universe Online for a couple weeks. I lost entire 12-hour blocks of my life and remembered why I generally don't play MMOs. My impulse control is poor and I will always sacrifice sleep for games, which negatively affects my work output. But it was a blast, all the bugs aside.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii was even better than I expected it to be. I'd have played it tons more than I did, but this generation more than any other, I've been buying and playing tons of random games simply because I have more money to spend on them. I'm usually juggling a couple Wii, 360, and even Gamecube games from my "To Play" pile, so sometimes when I finish a really good game like this one, I shelve it and move on to another one, when back in the day I'd just play it until I knew it all by heart. I miss being a kid and having all that free time.

Finally, Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. I'm a huge Zelda mark anyways, but it was the reason I bought a Wii. I know it's not much different from the GC version, but I bought and played it only for Wii so I'm counting it.

Some games I haven't played extensively or at all yet but am sure I will enjoy immensely are Skyward Sword, the Mario Galaxy games, Arkham City, Red Dead Redemption, GTA V, The Mass Effect series, and Xenosaga. Feel free to ask me how I felt about 'em in 2018, I'm sure I'll have played at least two of them by then.
You'll enjoy Arkham city a lot.

I also gotta give a big ups to my homies at Mistwalker. Blue Dragon and especially Lost Odyssey were great. A lot of amazing RPG's this generation, both J and Dubs.

That's good to hear; Blue Dragon's been sitting on my shelf for a while. I got it cheap but heard mixed things about it from a friend, so I haven't really prioritized it, but I'll definitely make it a point to play it soon.

I'll go by series since most of them had 2-3 games this gen:

- Uncharted series and The Last of Us
- Assassin Creed series (except 1 and 3)
- Mass Effect Trilogy
- Dead Space Trilogy
- Batman Arkham series
- Bioshock 1 and Infinite
- Metal Gear Solid 4 and Rising
- Resident Evil 5 (yes, I liked 5)
- Far Cry 3
- Dues Ex: Human Revolution
- Tomb Raider
- Mortal Kombat
- Portal 2
- Splinter Cell Blacklist
- God of War 3
- Ninja Gaiden 1 and 2
- Bayonetta
- Rayman Origins
- Sonic Generation
- Ratchet and Clank Tools and Future

On the Nintendo side from the Wii onward:

- Galaxy Series
- New Super Mario U
- Twilight Princess/Skyward Sword (although not as good as past Zeldas)
- Donkey Kong County Returns
- Metroid Prime 3

A lot of people don't realize (or are just too thick-headed to understand) that generations are based on timeframe of release, and not technology, so since the Wii U is more comparable in power to the PS3 and 360 than the PS4 and Xbone, they shove them into the same category, despite the Wii U being less than a year old.

Also Splosion Man. Such good times were had with that game. Ghostbusters and Left 4 Dead also get shout outs for the great mulitplayer experiences.

So if this generation counts when the 360 launched back in 2005, do we also count the PS2/Gamecube games that came out in 2005-2006? Because there were a number of hits like God of War II and Okami that came out around that time, also Kingdom Hearts II.

Don't be a f*cking idiot. You know god damn well there is a very clear and widely accepted separation between generations based on new hardware being released. Why the f*ck would you be counting games from a previous generation of consoles? That's not even remotely the same thing.

It's CyberCubed. Everybody knows he hasn't played a game in his life and just making up a list. He keeps going around the TMNT: OOTS thread going on and on about how it's a disgrace to the franchise when he hasn't even played it.
