I wanted to add a tag to this thread, "cuck with me if you want to live," but it was too long.

The movie is gonna flop. Next time they better hire a woman as a director.

It was incredible to look at for the first few minutes, and even Linda Hamilton was great for a bit, but the writing and acting takes a nose dive after the ipening action sequence, and never recovers.

For the manbabies, this isn’t ghostbusters 2016 again, far from it. It just isn’t very well written, at all. The opening is excellent, but thats also kind if the problem.

The other is the acting is so painful, you check out early on, and even Arnie doesn’t save it. Hamilton seems to be going through the motions, as though this is her first rehearsal, and they shot that.

Yeah, it's interesting the defense I'm seeing of this movie from people largely in love with the rhetoric of the movie:

"People are tired of Terminator, nobody cares about the franchise anymore."

"It needed a female director."

"It needed female writers."

And not stuff like "It was a bad script" or "Too much of a retread," etc..

Suggesting that vagina somehow make them write better is rather...dare I say...sexist.

Also, argument that women writers are better at writing women characters are rather stupid, since the greatest women characters, like Ripley or T2 Sarah Connor were written by men as well.

I'm willing to believe it's both "Bad script/retread" as well as "Nobody cares anymore." Multiple things can be true at once.

More dirt on the coffin:

https://screenrant.com/terminator-da...ms-china-flop/

Flopped overseas, flopped domestically, franchise over.

And nothing of value was lost.

Well we had 3 Terminator flops before this too and they kept bringing it back with another semi-reboot every few years. So I wouldn’t be surprised if there’s another one by 2025 or so.

I don't know.. this time might be the end until a complete reboot is acceptable. Some of the other Terminators were considered underperformers, but this one had a staggeringly negative ROI, no?

After two reboots of Spider-Man in a row everything is possible, but I think for the Terminator it is the end of line. At least for now.

I wouldn't be surprised if there will be a TV series on a moderate budget, but I really doubt there will be another blockbuster from that series in the next 4-5 years.

It'll be the last one with Arnold at any rate, even if they make another one while he's still alive. He's almost 73 now so if they wait a decade we're not going to see 80+ year old Arnold in the next reboot even if he's still alive.

I wish they'd have taken the opportunity to -- if not an evil Arnie T-800 to bring it full circle -- make Arnold's character a human. It'd be something new and fresh, and not just "protector Arnie T-800 with jokes" for the 30th time. Now we'll never get that.

Oh, with the miracles of CGI, I wouldn't be surprised if we saw a de-aged Arnold skin on a body double for the entirety of a future movie.

Salvation could have been a good new start but they missed that train.

I hope this doesn't put a negative light on other planned direct sequels of older properties, could it? They are all different properties after all so maybe not. I mean Halloween was successful. (My concern is mainly Robocop, if that is still happening)
