Wow. I really thought "knife control" was just fear mongering hyperbole...

I'll never surrender my pocket knife!

(Except for that one time when I wanted to go inside the Statue of Liberty and I had to hide it in the bushes on the grounds.)

No kidding. This is why I can't take my toenail clippers on a commercial flight anymore. Or toothpaste.

Next logical step would be to implement toothpicks control and ban forks.

This idiots fighting the consequences not the cause.

In their defense, with all the Brexit and Austerity there's only so much in the way of resources going around.

Good thing Thoughts and Prayers from higher ups are so inexpensive.

I was reading news on all the stabbings yesterday, a lot of young teens too. Then there are the acid attacks that have happened in recent years (in much less a number but horrific), it shocks me how quickly some will take or ruin the life of another.

A ban on online sales and possession in private on "zombie knives" is a bit extreme, especially if the law as written is too vague on what a "zombie knife" is compared to the actual term in practice. Like when does a 2zombie knife" stop being a zombie knife, if 1 or 2 of the 3 requirements are not met? Do "zombie knives" have to look gaudy and ugly to apply as "zombie knives"?

I mean, if you take a tanto and write "Mr. Stabby" on the blade and paint it barf green, is it now a "zombie knife" or does the blade need to look like it was designed by a idiot with no idea on what a knife looks like and was heavily inspired by 90's comic book era Xtreme designs?

In Norway it's illegal to carry knives in public space unless it's a part of your work tools or other instances, and those knives are not allowed to have a guard (scout knives can have a guard), carrying for self protection is not a legal reason to carry. Most knives are legal to own and keep in private but butterfly knives and spring-loaded knives are illegal. But you can apply for dispensation to the police to own weapons that's on the illegal list or to own weapons before you hit 16 or 18. And breaking the law will result in some heavy fines or 1 year jail time.

The acid issue makes way more sense. That I'm in favor of controlling.

I don't have an issue with folks banning knives.
It's not as though law exist solely for deterrence, but also for redress.
If someone comes at me with a knife that they're not supposed to have, and I happen to survive the incident, then you're damn right I'm going to sue them for my medical costs at the very least.

Which...isn't really an issue in the UK, because of the NHS.
Though, given how that looks like it's being dismantled at a rapid pace by TPTB...

It's the ultimate fear, right? Once they start taking, they will never stop. They won’t acknowledge that humans are violent and that without weapons, the mighty will always be able to rule over all others. They want that mighty power to only reside with the government. They will protect you. If they can’t, then you don’t need protection. It’s the line that divides us. Those that want to be self reliant and those that know they can’t, so the answer is to weaken those that can and want to.

Yeah.

I mean, I REALLY thought "knife control" was Orwellian hyperbole. But man, this is TSA-level. Just further showing, the root of the issue is not the guns, it is the people. Do something about identifying them and their issues BEFORE they go out and shoot, or stab, or Harvey Dent acid splash.

2 months ago the idea of a knife ban was a joke. "What are they going to do next, ban knives? HAHAHAHA!"

You can't make these things up.

It's a ban on a specific brand of knives, not all knives.

Not brand, style. And it sounded a little open-ended to me...

So no one else had a zero tolerance policy for knives at their High School?
I bet I'm probably the only one who has a full set of butchering knives, including a machete, in my kitchen.
