Yeah, the ending to this movie showed a sequel wasn't necessary unless old Kingy didn't actually die somehow and wants to seek revenge.

If they don't have Angelina on board, there is no way this won't flop. Their only hope of breaking even (possibly even making profit) is Angelina. Because they sure as hell don't have a good story yet. This is a case of "whythehellnotitis"...

I did not even know what to make of the first one never mind a squeal. Maleficent does not work in my mind as a good guy. Why change the whole story. I could maybe take her as a sympathetic villain but even that is stretching it. Maleficent is a force of nature. I would have enjoyed this more if they had kept Maleficent the way she was portrayed in the animated movie but with the whole story from her perceptive. I just don't know...

I loved Angelina as Maleficent! It was that girl who plays the princess that makes me vomit. The prince kid was pretty nauseating, too.

But Angelina, Sharlto, and the Raven were great.

I think to keep with tradition, Disney should recast the whole thing and release direct to DVD.

I'm actually kind of excited, I really liked Maleficent. I'm very interested in where they're going with all of these live action movies, to be honest.

I heard it made a few bucks but that the reviews were brutal and few people were really "happy" with it. It was mostly, "She nailed the part, but it's an awful movie". I've only seem bits of it when my wife watches it; my wife likes it, but she's one of those "Someone I like is in it = Good Movie" types. She never quite grasped simple things like, "Yes, Johnny Depp can play a convincing weirdo, but 'Alice In Wonderland' is still a piece of sh*t no matter how Mad his Hatter is."

No real point to this, anyways. Like who's the audience for a mediocre sequel to a mediocre film that did mediocre business? Unless Angelina had a rider in her contract stating they HAD to do two movies for "Reasons". Otherwise I don't get it.

When I went to see this movie in theaters I thought it was okay to pretty good. Then, I watched it on Blu-ray and I felt the same way. I'm guessing they are making a sequel because Tomorrowland was such a failure while their live-action re-imaginings of fairy tales have been hits. The only reason to look forward to a sequel is to see how the relationship between Aurora and Prince Phillip develops since they did not get married in last year's film.
