When the movie outright says humans somehow evolved from warthogs and rhinos, did the writers think the audience was dumb enough to accept that or were they so dumb they accepted it themselves?

Scientists made mistakes many times.

I just shrugged off his theory (because I don't agree with it), came up with my own theory, then carry on with the film.

...jesus, was that actually a plot point? Humans evolving from warthogs and rhinos? I know we heard something similar going around beforehand, about humans having random "animal DNA", but... yikes.

That's some next-level stupid, right there.

He says that we all have animal DNA in us or something like that, and theirs happen to be a warthog and rhino

For that and so many other reasons!

(...I just find him grating as all hell. 30 seconds into his videos and I'm scrambling for migraine medication.)

Sad that an adult (parody?) movie with a far cheaper budget is able to pull it off easily... Big Hollywood can't see how easy it is with all the dollar signs in the way.

And Mikey...?

Between that and his flatulence, we are already far too aware of his body functions... Not knowing until tomorrow night, I fear if this new film continues the trend.

It's not even so much his comment, but his total lack lack of awareness that it wasn't appropriate to let it come out of his mouth in mixed company. (Not that his brothers want to hear about it either.) Which, given their lack of socialization outside the family might be a little understandable, but surely tv has taught them at least enough to get by... the other three at least seem to get basic social etiquette. Though it's the lack of writing, directing and performance of April not reacting at all - standing there with a dumb look on her face like she doesn't understand things - turned the cringing up to 11.

The end when Mikey is trying to sing... Actually I sorta like it in a way; not for him, but for how the others are reacting wanting him to stop. Pretty relatable.

Goofiness I can deal with. Alien stuff, fine, since alien life probably exists and we don't know what that would be like. But when you're setting these Turtles in what appears to be the real world and tell the audience this about our species with no backstory to establish that these movie humans are not us and that is somehow a legit thing... that just goes beyond the limits of my suspension of disbelief.

I'm just the sort that still feels that even in fiction, unlikely things still need a logical reason why they work and why it should be believable... (i.e. Such as in fan works I kind of find it annoying when characters of different species have a kid together and that worked for apparently no reason whatsoever.)

3rd film requirement (if it happens): Use LOGIC. (And keep aiming in the right direction with any positive improvements that were made, don't start slacking.)

What would probably really happen in a 3rd: More mutants by accident, Venus shows up because some woman randomly had turtle DNA and now Mikey can get his love scene.

This is a MAJOR PLOT POINT IN THE FILM.

How about instead of saying, "Oh, whoopsie daisies, they made a teeny weeny mistake!", you hold the writing team to SOME SORT OF STANDARD to come up with a logical idea for the mutation.

Jesus Christ, forgive me for channeling my inner TrickOrTreater, but you're exactly the type of "person" that these people are trying to make movies for. The type that won't hold them to any standards and pay them anyways.

It wasn't even necessary, if I recall correctly they didn't even do that in the current animated series.

You could have just have Baxter say something like "we've extracted the DNA from two specially selected animals" and perhaps a visual of computer screens showing DNA strands merging as the two are transforming.

Because it's not a big deal for me? Baxter quickly came to that conclusion in mere seconds, of course I'm not gonna take it seriously. We're intelligent enough to come up with our own conclusion, not everything has to be spoonfed.

Quickly judging me as "the type of person", please. You're being overly critical over a kids movie. Know how sad that is? The past movies made mistakes and silliness too, who cares.

Why do people defend a bad movie by calling it a kids' movie? There are PLENTY of movies that are made for kids that have logical plots, decent writers, and well-written characters.

It's one thing to like the movie, but to give the producers a pat on the back for making illogical flaws? By god, that's just unnerving.

Then go watch those movies. If people like this movie, so be it. You feel the need to push your own opinion down people's throat? That's what you always do in real life too?
