WTF! Why would they even produce this in a scale that they know they can't sell anywhere else? What a total waste of money for them. Really stupid move.

Licensing issues are what they are. Be angry if you like. Personally I'm thankful that NECA spent the last 8 years trying to get these made. I will find a way to get them.

I get that but why would they make them in a size that limits their sales due to licensing issues? It makes zero sense from a business stand point.

Because 6" - 7" is the most popular size for figures and fits in with the rest of their products.

I'm with Saba on this. I think it was a dumb move.
Happy turtle day! Here's 8 figures only a handful of people will get at base price, the rest of you will most likely have to spend 2-3X as much. Thanks for supporting us! -Neca

Screw Playmates but at this point, I'm almost inclined to say the same thing to Neca for such a slap in the face.

I am sick and tired of Playmates ruining things for Collectors. But I agree why make it in a size you can't sell at retail its kinda screws the pooch.

I still don't think they would only use these sculpts for their "VG pixels look" line they have going. Even with re-using the body sculpts for the turtles/foot it can't be possible to break even on an exclusive set.
I think they'll eventually release the sets as exclusives for another con with normal paintjobs. How long does Playmates have the license for? Any chances another company gets them? I don't really know the toy industry very well so I don't know. |

If they made them in Quarter scale, then everyone would be complaining that they were being made in Quarter scale...just like on the Jim Henson NECA thread.
Haters gonna hate no matter what. Life isn't fair, they're doing what they can to get around licensing and still deliver an amazing product to the fans. Some people will miss out. Others will find a way to get these. Life goes on. |

It's not a slap in the face. That's always been and always will be a ridiculous thing to say.

How is it not? Making something that everyone wants extremely hard to get looks like a slap in the face to me. Not only that but they limit their income on a product that could be extremely popular. They're shooting themselves in the foot.

Licensing restriction limits their income and options on what they can make, what scale, and where it is sold. Facts.

This is the only way they can offer these figures. Either buy it or don't. Simple choice. They're not limiting their income... they're constrained by the restrictions of the license. Same reason they're constrained by the license restrictions for the Henson movie Turtles.

Honestly, there's no point getting angry at Neca.
Get mad at Playmates. Don't buy their ****. It's so simple. There was a time when blockbuster had a starnglehold on home video too. |

these things look like crap to me.....the turtles might look halfway ok, but the finer details, not so much. i wish they'd drop the pixel look, makes them look even weider. sigh. so annoyed that playmates is playing big brother and practically bullying more creative companies from releasing things. surprised those prime 1 side show statues saw the light of day compared to the movie figures playmates put out. not that i needed another reason not to buy another playmates figure ever again... |
