Everyone is hoping Shredder coming in hopfully brings in the reset button so we can go back to the turtles stopping shredder, krang, bebop and rocksteady from stealing energy for the technodrome, which just kinda proves the fans of the show don't like the show as it is.

The thing is... I actually liked the basic premise of the show; the turtles and April facing mutants, with an underground mystical city to explore, and no shredder or foot clan in sight for the origin. Splinter is Lou Jitsu instead of Hamato Yoshi? GREAT! The foot's usage in this series seems to indicate Shredder is a mystical being the two foot soldiers are trying to revive, so we will get a mystical shredder, with no past connection to the TMNT.
The problem is, the execution is not good. The tone is just a little too wacky and silly, instead of mutants like leatherhead, slash, Groundchuck, Dirtbag, etc., we get a worm, a repo/chop shop mantis, a goofy hippo, and other new villains that don't seem interesting enough to become attached to. Why not more of a mix of old and new villains? I dunno, it's not very good, but I prefer it more than another recycled 'tmnt vs shredder, mutants, and aliens' plot for the millionth time.

I'm positive this whole show is just a palate cleanse until the next time they semi-seriously approach a new iteration, with the same level of "serious" as the 2012 series.

Though I enjoy the show and appreciate all the new villain designs, it struck me as being this generation's "Next Mutation" experiment, which I think had the unintended result of accomplishing that "palette cleanse" of all 1990s-isms about the franchise.
