I kinda find it interesting that both this and the Picard finales rely on Capt. Will Riker coming to save the day.

For what it's worth, I think this is the best show from this era of Star Trek. The satirical aspect pokes fun at a lot of the issues I have with the JJ movies and Discovery specifically (Burnham now seems like the kind of character Mariner would create in a holodeck simulation).

I actually finished watching the season with a big smile on my face. It would be nice if someone like this Mike McMahan guy took over as a story editor for the franchise in some capacity.

Funny, I'd already watched the first one weeks ago. Just saw 2-4.

Nope. Still painfully unfunny. I'm just sitting here looking at the TV with this rapid fire "funny" talk rife with ST references with a flat face.

And again, I love Rick & Morty. BTW, when does THAT come back?

In the second season of Lower Decks, Mariner's sexuality will be openly explored, and we're introduced to an ex-girlfriend of hers

Also, according to Mike McMahan, every Starfleet officer is on some level bisexual.

Progressivness needs to be reclassified as insanity at this point.

Okay, I don't watch the show and I don't have any problem with gay/bisexual/whatever people, but hear me out for a second.

"People who aren't straight", let's just say for simplicity's sake, are always and forever saying that they don't have any agendas outside of "tolerance", and they're not trying to "erase" straight people and they're not trying to "brainwash or indoctrinate" anyone.

BUT, then you have situations like this and the Netflix She-Ra show, where straight people simply don't exist OR if they do they're villains, or some combination thereof.

Um... yeah, that's... that's the very definition of "straight erasure", as well as a little bit of "indoctrination" or at least social conditioning. Definitely, definitely what could be called "an agenda", certainly.

As one male friend of mine once said to another, female, militant Feminist friend of mine during a heated debate: "You people aren't at all concerned with 'equality', you just wanna take over and 'get even' with everybody who ever gave you sh*t. Just be honest about it."

Kinda hard to argue with that logic in the face of... well, everything. Like literally everything.

Ugh. This show first needs to prove that it's good before it starts being the paragon of LGBTQ. It hasn't done that.

But... isn't that in fact what they do with shows nowadays when they're NOT good, or otherwise have nothing important to say? They just jump on that particular bandwagon because it means they're now immune to all criticism. You can't have a negative opinion of the show(s) without automatically having a negative opinion about an entire group of people.

Isn't that how it works, now? Pretty sure that's how it's been working across the board in movies and TV for the last three or four years.

Seems dialouge is getting a little closer to R&M/SO with the characters referring to in-universe events as "Sci-Fi stuff". It would be weird if they started to break the fourth wall like in those shows.

Season 5 of Lower Decks will be the final season, just confirmed. Also Strange New Worlds has already been renewed for Season 4 before Season 3 even airs.
