Creepyass hail... looking like those flat glass "gems" people put in vases and fish tanks. We normally only ever get the little round pea-sized stuff at most, so what was that about, storm?
Ran out to grab my tiny sapling before the hail hurt it... 5/11 - Was trying to recall my bank account number to write it on the back of a check and, though luckily I wasn't writing them, after the first few digits it quickly turned into my now former employee number that I was so used to using to clock in/out with every day. Heckin yes, my cousin's cats have come to sleep by me .
I've missed this at my aunt's house. Her cat won't come up stairs and I can't bring the porch cat inside. My cousin's cats are really good ones too. I first saw one of them when he was a kitten ten years ago.

There's something kind of weirdly hilarious about a large house fly on your computer monitor that just randomly falls off for some reason and hits the desk. *thunk*
Then was right back up no problem. You're a creature that can fly, I don't understand why this even happened. lol (Did it fall asleep and let go?) |

Oh, me too.
The absolute best thing about leaving my house in Waco is not having to deal with roaches anymore.

My mother is like me in this respect as well. She also cant' stand spiders, but I don't really mind those. Then again we don't have giant spiders here. If I was Australian I'd be scared of them too.

Something tells me the fly was nearing the end of his (three) days....

I'd have thought so had it not popped right back up and flew around like nothing happened. (And has since been shooed out a window.)
Guess it just encountered a bug and rebooted. edit: And now I have a stink bug to catch up with and throw outside before it drives me crazy throwing itself around the room... |

Well, having watched flies in their twilight hours, they do start to act erratically, forgetting how to fly, losing their grip, etc, in the last hours before they die- sort of like insect demetia, I suppose.

So, I just realized that my nickname was "Papi". Who would have thought?
Does anyone else have a forum nickname? |

Um, like Duckie, maybe? Incidentally, that is also a nickname of mine IRL.

Here, no. I don't really count shortening it to Indigo as a nickname. I've been called Indi elsewhere in the past though when I've used the same name.
5/23 - I wonder how likely it is a thing that plenty of MLP fans have tattooed their own "cutie mark" on either side of their butt... And like adult professionals. Last edited by IndigoErth; 05-23-2018 at 09:57 PM. |

What is the future of musical genre (and, by extension, music itself)?
I hope it won't all be generated, at least synthetically. |

So, apparently Benedict Cumberpatch stopped a crime outside the actual Baker Street?

Good on him, now the old line "I only play one on tv" is no longer entirely true.
It's a sad (and by sad I mean happier) world we live in when the scammers barely even try anymore. lol Right. That doesn't seem suspicious at all. Then again... maybe they're actually more clever, or trying to be, and hope that a picture of a mysterious unmarked box will cause an irresistible curiosity. Hmm. |

I wonder if every job occupation and career position (in existence) will be replaced with robotic assistance.
You know, if there'll eventually be robot actors/actresses that fill up roles. Something like that. |

Which means that, unless AI becomes good enough to do the job of modelers and animators, at least that part of the film industry is safe for humans. (Which, as a dream job, I'm glad, despite that it may never happen for me...) Question is, long in the future, will many celebrities just choose to do the public fame part and sell the rights to their CGI likeness to the industry? Will their agents have a copy of their likeness on file and that will just be sent over to a studio? Essentially, Rent-a-Celeb. But it might at least have the benefit of weeding out those who truly are in it for the art as that sort may likely refuse and prefer to actually be involved. But unless there evolves some amount of CGI-likeness shaming, in which viewers start choosing to give more support to those who actually make films themselves, it could also become the replacement for so-called YouTube fame with any person being able to try to sell a passable likeness of themselves to talent agents. Surely any lazy fame whore's dream... As for other careers... Well, there are certain things that would be hard to replace. Store associates for one. You could in a way turn brick and mortar stores into something more like a massive vending machine I suppose, but smaller stores with fewer staff and more individualized, possibly appointment based, service may be more realistic. Internet shopping is never going to entirely kill the existence of physical stores as there will always be things people need (or want) to buy right now or are still far better off seeing an item in person first. But there are just some human to human needs there where a robot is not going to suffice. At least not until AI becomes scary good. By the time a lot of jobs are automated and replaced by robots, I at least hope we're living in a system where individuals own those robots and rent them to the companies... thus sending your robot(s) to work for you. In turn, you pay people to do the maintenance (if you're unable to do it yourself or not wanting to), providing those people with income that they can use to save up to afford their own robots. (Robot maintenance training will finally be the "free education" the U.S. government, and that of some other countries, finally decides to fund...) |
