1990 Technodrome and 1993 Technodrome Scout Vehicle

I decided to go big this year for Christmas, and acquired both the Techndrome and Technodrome Scout (little brother). The Technodrome Scout was only 100 bucks plus shipping, so I figured what the hell? I had both of these as a kid and played with them for countless hours. I was strictly collecting the figures, but had to have these two gems.

I came across this short 2 minutes documentary recently raising the main topic "What does freedom actually mean". I guess this. Plain and simple this

Congratz by the way! I had neither of them as a kid as they were real pricey back then. So about 2 years ago I obtained a used (good condition though), unboxed and complete for around 100 bucks shipped. What did you pay for yours?

I paid about $1,200 for the Technodrome with shipping. The AFA graded ones go for around 3 or 4 thousand. Paypal gave me a $5,000 credit line, I didn't pay cash for it. So I will be ultimately be making monthy payments on it. I had to have it. My mom told me it cost around 100 dollars new in 1990/1991 lol.

Ngh! Just made me twitch. Yup, I know those pieces pass counters for much more in such a condition, no doubt but still - that's quite an impressive amount of money

Yup, somewhere around that (compared to my memory based on my local EU currency back then). It might not seem like much money these days but about 20 years ago it was quite an amount you'd consider spending twice or more often For my mum toys with prices like the technodrome was always a no-go, understandable because somewhere you have to pull a line.

Stuff like this and the old Eternia playset from the He-Man line are so tragic.

Everyone wanted them as kids, and everyone wants them now, BUT, at $100 retail "Back In The Day" almost no kid would ever reasonably own them, outside of a "This would be your ONE Christmas/Birthday present!" situation. And no kid would ever take One Big Present over dozens of smaller ones, even if the Big One was something awesome like the Technodrome or Eternia.

And then, there's the fact that the kids who DID get them generally didn't take care of them. Used Technodromes or Eternia sets that you find LOOSE are already expensive - since so few ever sold at retail and thus are still hard to find "in the wild" - and it's practically a waste because parts are broken or missing. Found a loose Technodrome on eBay? I'll bet you anything it's missing the "eyeball". Stumbled upon an unboxed Eternia set? I promise you, that monorail track is busted into little plastic shards.

So anyone who wants these things in reasonably-good shape HAS to buy a near-mint or boxed version, and Good Luck justifying THAT kind of purchase if you have a family. It's such a shame.

Anyway, congrats to anyone who actually manages to snag one of these near-mint. I'm jealous.
