Ooh! New pic!
Hmm... I'm not too crazy with how Leo's face looks... He has no chin, the nose is too big, and the cheeks stick out too much... |

Yeah Leo does look kinda funky there lol... but oh well, I'm too big of a turtle fan to criticize it too much.

It's not really the design that bothers me (Though they did go way overboard in flattening the face)....But the rendering itself. It looks very poorly done, certainly not the kind of quality one would expect from a big-budget animated motion picture.
Ah well, I hope it looks better in action. I'll wait for the trailer.

Leo looks funny, kinda squishy. I hope they go back and keep designing their appearance.

Well they've got almost two years to fix it.

personally, i think the new, 'clearer', image looks amazing at this point...you've got to remember also that it's still a good year n half away, these are just the early stages now, movies, includin CG, go through many many changes during the filming, sculpture, and post production stages...i think it looks like its gonna be really good.

That's more or less preliminary shots, and not the finished product...

-->> side note:..There was no sign of the trailer at comic-con..
With as much hype mustering up on the new feature.. there would have been notice somewhere that the CGI trailer or teaser would have shown. I asked several people and the TMNT crew i could find.. nada.. it's pretty safe to say the trailer was not shown at the con by regulars. Kevin Eastman did mention it tho' during breakfast..but the details of what he said were kinda blurry to me ..(i'm still trying to get my head on straight after the big trip here..). Even tho' Eastman doesn't have much to do with the direction and marketing of TMNT anymore.. people seem to think he has no awareness of anything that happens to them. Which isn't true. cuz of his Highlander movie comin' out and his ties to that company..perhaps that's how he's keepin' tabs on it amoung other things. |

I hope it dosen't wind up loking like that crap that was going to be the new animated series. A Dreamcast could do better than that.

Really I DO HOPE they change the way they sculpt the TMNT faces.
That cartoonish look doesn't work. The dimensions of his face are too "Loonie Toonish". His cheeks are the biggest problem. Both human and turtle cheeks don't stick out like that. Here's a picture down below with REAL turtles and that new Leo pic. The cheeks of a turtle is nearly absent. Plus, turtles have smaller pointier noses rather than that big honking round thing on Leo's face. The "no chin" look also bothers the Hell out of me. Leo just looks way too cartoonish much like the classic old series TMNT. The plus side is I'm glad they didn't make his mouth too wide, and I'm glad they didn't flatten his head too much. His cranium has a good realistic amount of hight (as far as I can tell, unless his head is tilted down...). The TMNT ARE humanoid after all. It has to show in the face and whole head too... not just the limbs. |
