Ghostbusters video game people: "Hi, Doritos. Ten years ago we had your product in our video game... we were wondering if you'd let us keep it there in the update of the same game now?" Doritos: "NO!" or "Now YOU pay US!" Like, why? For the GB game people, they'd want to leave it there to spend less calories. For Doritos, free advertising.

That's something I actually understand, in a movie since they obviously get re-released in various formats the contracts for said product placement is made in perpetuity. For video games, it's only semi recent that games are re-released as remasters or ports of older versions so these things like re-releases were never taken into account, obviously it's much cheaper to pay for a short period of time or for a console than perpetuity. Especially with gaming that cannot be necessarily rereleased in the same way through different formats over and over again like movies, so even now companies prefer to only pay for that small specific release than forever.

Everytime he posts I'm trying to remember what it's from... I feel like I know it, but can't place it.

The Doritos thing is still weird to me. The product placement was for the game itself. I don’t see why a port or different console would matter. Unless they consider any technical upgrade a separate game.
Crispy Snacks is not a real brand either. I mean it could be but it’s obviously just a generic edit. Well the remaster had a different publisher/developer so maybe that’s a factor. If that required a new agreement and they just thought it was easier to skip it.
