New show will be announced this spring?

From Toynewsi:

Just posted are the Playmates Toys Showroom Images From Toy Fair 2020.

There are no new TMNT figures shown. Nickelodeon expected to announce the next incarnation of TMMT this spring and Playmates will be doing toys for it. No pics of Godzilla Vs Kong aloud either.

Hopefully, this adaptation will be faithful to the 1987 original.

Seems a bit fast, esp with nothing yet officially stated regarding 'Rise,' so I'll believe it when I see it.

edit: Though even if 'Rise' was sticking around, I suppose there would be nothing wrong with planning an additional series... on, say, CBS or Netflix.

Not true. Nick has no plans for a new TMNT show at this time, or at all.

I know Star Trek used to have two series airing at the same time, but I don't think TMNT is that big of a franchise.

I'm not going to get caught up in new show news etc unless it comes from Nick/Viacom or in the instance of a speculated Netflix show, from them.

At least this news adds more fuel to the fire Rise was a damn failure for Nick/Viacom/the TMNT Brand.

TMNT is still a Nickelodeon-owned product, it probably will.

I doubt this is true, they didn't even finish airing all of Rise' second season on TV yet. There won't be a new cartoon so soon.

Quite unexpected if true.

I personally don't see any advantage in changing series every 5 years, but that's just me.

They sort of tried that and...

Anyway, I think it's probably for the best if the next one just ignores the Fred Wolf show and tries to just be a decent show in it's own right.

What was that? The Thundercats Roar of the TMNT universe?

Yes, and having existed among those "summer shorts" they did lets hope that qualifies it as having "been done already" so no series will ever do it. lol

I mean... it's kind of funny as just a stupid one time online thing, but dear god please don't ever let an actual series turn out like that.

If true, it could be that live action series that was rumoured last year.

Didn't they announce Rise before season 5 TMNT 2012 show.

Yeah, though 2012 was already long planned to close after 5 seasons, so they already had a target end for it and a while to think over what would be next. If something really is announced soon while we don't even know what's going on with 'Rise' and season 2, that it surprisingly abrupt.

I doubt ToyNewsInc would be the only ones with this info, I'm sure Pixeldan and others would be all over asking questions regarding the future of TMNT, since we got nothing we've got to wait until SDCC to see if we see anything.

My guess is that something about the official statement "new incarnation" might have been misleading, as the previous official statement we saw from a Playmates rep said their toyline would focus on "Classic TMNT":
http://forums.thetechnodrome.com/sho...96#post1826296

So maybe that is what was meant by "new incarnation."

Then again, as a big fan of the 1987 show and its style, I'd be happy to see a new project along those lines. It certainly seems to be where the money for the franchise is right now.

It's not unprecedented, though. The Batman aired while JLU was still on. The span between Spectacular Spider-Man and whatever series took its place was pretty fast, too.

I'd like to see a new cartoon, either way. The 2013 series was fantastic. I could go for something like that again.
