Is there any news about Playmates rereleasing the classic line?

Someone in the Rise of the TMNT thread said they contacted Playmates many months ago and they said something about focusing on that? I would love if they did.

I’m not sure if Playmates was going to release reissues of the 1988 TMNT action figures, but Playmates was suppose to focus on the characters from the classic Fred Wolf TMNT cartoon.

Playmates did not show the retro TMNT figures at Toy Fair 2020. I don’t know what Playmates is doing now. You would have to e-mail them to find out.

I mean ... cool box set design, but these reissues are so lackluster. I can't get over that terrible mint green color scheme they gave Raph.

EDIT: Though it looks like they may have updated him?

Lame. Playmates doesn't deserve the turtles license anymore. They half ass everything.

The box is the best thing about this...I mean I really like the box, but definitely not enough to justify the cost.

Again? This time it looks like they didn't paint the outer border of the front shells, they left them green.

Would it kill them to finally do something different?

So how many times is this that Playmates have rereleased the '88 figures in the last ten years?

Incredibly boring reissues... again. They have already reissued these many times.

When they said they were focusing on retro for TMNT they really meant it. Just going to do reissues hu? I thought they might try something a little more interesting, but apparently imagination is dead at Playmates Toys.

They must not really be hurting enough over there to try anything bold. Let's starve the beast a little bit more and maybe they'll try for a change.

We have Super7 and NECA so whatever.

What do you expect? It's a comic con exclusive.
I think it's cool. Planning to pre-order a set from the comic store.

Keep in mind if it's something super exciting and sought after, you would be whining that you can't buy it and it's a con exclusive.

If you wanna blow 90 bucks on figures that have been reissued numerous times just to get a fancy box more power too ya. Most of us are done being suckers for Playmates's garbage.

This time the reissues have large rotocast heads.

Easy pass.

Is Shredder remolded though? His legs (esp the left one) isn't the way the vintage toy is.
