Episode 106 - The Turtles And The Hare

Doesn't this episode seem out of place? The quality of the drawings seem like that of late season 3 and early season 4 and the beginning of the show, when the title is shown, is shown on it's own seperate screen, like season 1-3 and the first half of 4? This one is the first episode of season 5? Any ideas?

the simpsons have this problem as well sometimes. i dont know why producers dont spot it, maybe they don't, maybe it's a deliberate thing, but it can leave you guessing if it's a hint of laziness on their behalf.

however , voices shmoices. at the end of the day you could watch the cartoon properly so that's that as far as im concerned.,

Maybe they made ep 106 sometime when they were doing the earlier seasons but aired it in season 5? i think the same thing happened with the euro eps...

They were cool episodes, but the only weird thing us that Rob Paulson didn't do Raphael's voice in any of them.

That's the strange thing; they TAKE PLACE after Plan 6 From Outer Space, but they aren't aired until much later (the ambiguity is intentional there so that a certain board member doesn't go off on his false tangent). What gives?

Both of these questions (the Easter episodes and the European episodes) have stifled me for quite some time, too.

The Easter episodes would certainly match up with the early Season 4 episodes in terms of animation, cute storyline, and background music. I have never understood why these episodes are considered part of Season 5.

And with the European episodes, these are hard to figure out. You would think they'd take place after "Plan 6 from Outer Space," the first episode of Season 4. As far as animation and storyline, it fits. But have you noticed some of the background music matches what was first introduced in 1992 (even though I know these episodes were aired in 1993)? Perhaps they were written for Season 4, but for reasons only the creators know, they were held back.

I don't know. But these are both excellent questions that, unfortunately, we'll probably never get any answers to.

Raphael: "No one calls a Turtle a chicken!"
Michaelangelo: "Time to get rude and crude, dude!"
All Turtles: "Turtle" - GASP for breath - "power!"

Yeah really odd. Now that i have watched few eps of the Real 1993 Season, I must say that it seem very good. The episodes are well written, Seasons 4-6 tend to lack this with the exeption of few David Wise episodes. Especially "Legend of Koji" was very good. It seems that David Wise has written most of these eps. With out any doubt he is the best writer. And SO far, this season comes right after the First in my list. They actually have good fights, wich were missing after season 1.

That brings up another question I have, and it concerns the episode "The Legend of Koji."

Is it just me, or does this episode remind you of the third Ninja Turtles movie? I wonder if the movie spawned this episode? Because they both seem very much alike, to me.

That crossed my mind too. And Finally they understood that Hamato and Oroku are the Lastnames.

That's right, because Hamato Koji is Splinter's direct ancestor and Oroku Sancho is Shredder's ancestor. Though now that I think of it, this story kinda paralells the story in Mirage Vol. 1 #46 + 47 since both tales incorporated the origin of the Foot Clan.

I noticed that too! They're definitely similar...perhaps the episode was based in the movie, since it has the time travelling to japan thing and all that

It's really tough to say between the 3rd movie and the Legend of Koji, if my memory is correct they were both released in the same year. But if you ask me, by season 7 the show was getting boring. It did have it's good episodes such as Legend of Koji or Shredder Triumphant! But it really just didn't make it in my book. As for the turtles and the hare, you are correct it was written before season 5 but aired with the 5th season because it started right around Easter time.

Season 4-6 are the worst of the show. They have few good David Wise eps, but most is boring. The real season 7 on the other hand looks like a really good season.

I used to have that entire season on tape, but the tracking on my VCR at the time was shot and the tape was ruined from the beginning. Though it seemed to look ok on my cousin's VCR when I took it over to watch with him, which made me want to make acouple good copies of it. Unfortunatly, I never got around to it and wound up recording over the episodes.
