Russia, China outpacing US in hypersonic missiles

http://thehill.com/policy/defense/38...rompting-fears

Now this is actually really scary. Are we sure we don't need a strong defense budget?

If another country can hit us with nukes at those kinds of speeds... there is virtually no defense right now. And if we don't even have the same? If another country makes clear that they are going to hit us like that... it's checkmate.

Considering how Russia and China spend less than a 1/4 as we do when it comes to military, no, we need to spend it more wisely however.

Not really.

The thing is, as far as I know, there is no way to protect country from massive nuclear bombing. And no-one in their right mind will send only 1 nuclear missile. So, whatever, weapon they have...it's nothing more than another dickmeasuring contest.

There are missile defense systems that can intercept/chaff/disable nuclear missiles... but that's a whole hell of a lot much harder to do if there's 20 screaming at us at hypersonic speeds.

I don't think China is a threat to USA. Both economies are too interlinked. A war between both would favour neither party nor the world.

We've had an arms race before, do you want another one?

Because these sentiments are what causes one and spoiler alert, no one feels any safer during those times.

If the US really wanted to do something about the Chinese threat they wouldn't have pulled from the transpacific partnership, the problem is people who never took economics class in college get to have an opinion about what's best for an economy.
