I rewatched the (watchable parts of the) movie a few weekends ago, and it struck me during the lair invasion scene...

Splinter was WINNING the fight. That rat was totally holding his own against RoboShredder, dodging blades, landing blows, nearly stabbing RoboShredder through the eye... and then he gets worried maybe his giant hulking turtles are in danger, locks them out, and proceeds to get his ass whupped.

Yet another WTF moment from the mind of Michael Bay.

And then you remember he got his training via a book that somehow stayed in decent-condition in the sewers.

Yeah, I know, suspension of disbelief and all that sh*t, amirite?

And it was a picture by picture book, written in Japanese...

Hell, even then it was written by "Eastman & Laird". I'll repost this because hey, come on, of course I will:

Which, okay - it's a nod to the creators, which is always appreciated. But this also means it's a very thin, beginners' picture book ninjutsu manual written by two Americans. But sure, that'll play better than skills passed down from a centuries-old ninja clan, right?

Maybe it's a magical book that infuses ninjitsu skills into the reader of the book?

Honestly... Splinter basing his and the Turtles martial arts from a American wannabe Ninjas instruction booklet, explains the unorthodox weapons they use in their "ninjutsu"

I still say Casey is going to end up in their home once they're friends, randomly happen to pick up a book... a ninja book... and go, "Hey, this was mine. Lost it years ago in a storm grate."

It would be like the perfect WTF kind of way to pull Casey into some magical, fateful connection to the Turtles. He's the frigging almighty right hand of the hogosha!

It wouldn't surprise me if that was the case. And I agree that Casey doesn't need a full origin story. We all know he becomes a vigilante. Show and don't tell.

When this turns out to be true, we'll all know who to blame.

This is shaping up to be great. Bash those foot ninjas to a pulp, Casey; crack open their heads like egg shells. Imagine TMNT in the style of Sin City
There is no way in hell this movie is gonna be as violent as Sin City.

A Mirage TMNT movie done exactly like Sin City would be dreamy.

Not sure if this was posted or not but I was on Jane Wu's imdb and saw this?

If you can't see the picture, it says that Jane Wu is playing a character named Jade in TMNT 2. Not sure who Jade is...?
