Awesome. I hope it doesn’t get delayed. Glad to know there was and is an actual script. I thought it was starting from scratch.

I just hope it is actually good.

If only videogame based movies could be as good and get as good of treatment as comic book movies...or any other movie in general.

Judging from the reception of recent Sonic games (and the franchise as a whole for that matter), this might be Sega's last chance of proving themselves worthy of operating the series. In the meantime, I am hoping that they are discussing a proper execution for the film.

Don't disappoint me, Sega.

I'm pretty sure Sega has little to do with this. They don't make movies.

They do own and operate the franchise, however.

A movie's reception can positively or negatively affect a franchise's reputation. We have seen this happen with Justice League.

I'm actively hoping that Sega's overseeing the movie's development cycle.

Just going by the past, though, game companies don't usually have a lot of say or pull in this sort of thing. The rights are usually licensed out and they're hands off because of that. If game companies had a more direct role, I imagine a lot of past video game movies would have looked far different. See anything Uwe Bolle has touched or the Resident Evil films.

So this is probably Paramounts gig entirely. It could be worse, I guess. Sony could still be making it.

Remember the Super Mario Bros. movie?

So is this going to be a live action movie(with CGI Sonic) or a completely animated one?

I wonder how Sonic is going to look like. Because a real life Hedgehog are actually tiny. And Sonic is a little bigger and blue colored. So he will look completely out of place in the real world.

Other movies like Stuart Little, Alvin & the Chipmunks and Cats & Dogs can mix CGI animals with real life humans. So I reckon it'd be like that.

Or maybe just like Sonic 06.

I don't mind the mix but Elise is such a bland and boring character tbh.

There’s no way the characters can be realistically sized like the Chipmunks. Sonic and the gang are the heroes. I assume it’s just like 06 or any other game. They come from another planet. Mobius probably.

I don’t mind them giving him a bit more of a realistic look though.

I think it's gonna be PG-13 action film so Sonic will probably look a bit more realistic

And the chipmunks weren't the heroes/main characters of their movies?

They weren’t and aren’t “action” characters. The Chipmunks aren’t heroes that fight evil villains...they’re the heroes of thier own stories that thwart foes.

Plus Sonic and rest can easily be from another planet which they are. Having human sized Chipmunks doesn’t really fit in non-sci-fi live action.

Paul Rudd is reportedly eyed for the lead role: https://www.comicbookmovie.com/video...-movie-a160956

While he no doubt would have been a great choice to voice the titular speedster, it's said that the studio wants him to play Tom, a cop who ends up befriending Sonic before the duo team-up to take down the evil Robotnik. Beyond that, no details about the plot have been revealed at this time.
Wow, that sounds...really, really dumb.

James Marsden (Westworld, X-Men) will star in the film. I can definitely see him in this.
