I can't do it. Listening to podcasts at 1.5 just puts me on edge - I think if I watched movies like that I'd have a nervous breakdown.

I could never do this. The skipping messes up the voices and the movie/episode just gets too fast and awkward to watch. Also, I don't like missing things. I like to relax and enjoy stuff.

I don't see the appeal of podcasts. Just sitting in front of the computer listening to a few people talk for an hour or so is boring. I need video/footage and to see the actual people move and talk. Maybe I'm strange but that's how I am. As for downloading podcasts and putting them in your phone or something while you take a walk... I don't like that either. I'll only pay attention to 20% of what I hear them saying.

I notice a lot of people keep bringing up podcasts, I don't know how it sounds there, but movies sped up doesn't distort the dialogue at all. I guess it's different somehow with podcasts? I have no clue.

You don't typically sit in front of your computer and listen to them - I listen to them on my phone, on the way to work, walking, vacuuming, washing dishes, gardening etc. Makes time go faster, and you learn things.

It doesn't distort the dialogue, it just makes everyone sound like they're talking faster, which makes me nervous for some reason.

I listen to podcasts when I'm driving, at the store, on public transportation etc. So it's times when I'm not really doing anything else.

Yes sometimes you stop paying attention for a little bit but you can still follow the conversations, if it's something important you can always rewind. I actually can't listen to audiobooks the same way I do podcasts because in books if I get distracted for a few seconds I usually missed some important details.

A podcast is basically a radioshow, and there are podcasts about everything, so you can find one that you like no matter your dislikes. Don't mistake podcasts with two nerds talking about nerdy stuff and their opinions only.

In podcasts there's no video so you don't have the visual feedback of the person moving "faster" than normal. Also podcasts you can usually stop paying attention for a while and get back into them without a problem but on a story you miss important details, like my audiobook example. Technically the speed is still the same but it just works better.

I just watched all of the Star Wars: Clone Wars cartoon, all 6 seasons, in the span of 5 days thanks to the 1.5x speed. That's 120+ episodes. I had never seen the show in full before, now I finally did and it was great.

I also watched the 2D Clone Wars cartoon from 2003, edited together it comes out to only 2 hours and 12 minutes, and I watched that at 1.5x speed and it came out to only an hour and a half.

Goddamn, this is such a great way to marathon shows. It doesn't always work well for 2D cartoons, but for live-action and CG shows/movies it works extremely well. I just caught upon on 30+ years of mainstream media.

Dammit, sometimes I feel that the only way I'll ever get through my backlog of DC superhero and Marvel shows is through 1.5 speed. Each hero has a 22 season that lasts an 45 mins or so per season, it's just too many hours because there are so many superhero shows.

Stop tempting me.

edit: oh and i'm watching most youtube content 1.5 speed, most people waste so much time because of minutes watched statistic that at 1.5 speed it seems perfect.

Most of those shows aren't really worth watching beyond certain standout episodes anyway.

sdp you can watch Dragonball Super now that it's ending, although the dub is only in the early Goku Black arc and you'd have to watch the subs.

Best thing about Dragonball is the 1.5x speed works wonders with the pacing issues so the characters aren't standing around or powering up for long.

I used to do this years ago when I watched stuff on my PS3, It works well but I didn't do it for the whole episode or anything, just through action scenes I'd normally zone out of.

Speeding up a film is lazy IMO and if you need to do that to get through one...dont watch them.

That show is on my list as well. But 120 eps over 5 days, really? They're out of order as well, I hope you put them in the correct order.

Honestly I think he exaggerates. Nobody watches 120 23 minute episodes in 5 days.

I don't really believe him either, but it's not like we can ever know if he's BSing or telling the truth, anyway
