How did you feel about the noses/nostrils in these movies on the Turtles?

I HATED them. I had a mental breakdown in 2014 when they were first revealed and it's now almost 6 years later and I have yet to fully recover. The wounds have not yet fully healed.

It made the Turtles look like 4 Hulks or 4 Shrek's or whatever other jolly green giant you can think of. They were so disgusting and hideous looking. I couldn't stand it. It's almost as bad as the Turtles being "huge" in these movies.

Disgusting ugly noses. I hate it.

Well the designs are ugly, I'll admit that.

But let's be clear here, just because it made them look ugly it doesn't mean the idea didn't make sense. The character models were intended to blend in with live-action environments, nostrils is something all land living vertibrates have, the idea is that it makes them look more believable as living creatures. Comics, cartoons and video games can get away with Kevin and Peter's original design choices because realism isn't a signifigant concern there.

Now maybe if they based it on real turtle nostrils instead of human nostrils, people might not have complained.

My answer is mixed. I like the wider, more rounded design of Leo and Donnie. Got used to it and think it looks decent. (Leo's profile is actually surprisingly similar to that of his 2003 counterpart.) I do not, however, care for the narrower design of Mikey and Raph.

Poor Cubed... You know how often I've come across nostrils in fan art, now? I'm not sure this is going away. lol But at least most of it is cute art?

This isn't something I have had any strong feelings about, obviously they form part of the design but I don't feel that it was this single thing which made them ugly to people nor did it affect other issues people had with the movies.

I'm still disappointed that they did not subtlety and humbly poke fun at themselves and the nostrils/lips complaint via the second film and have promo boxes of Kleenex tissues and Chapstick. lol

I'm with this. Real turtles have nostrils, so okay, that gets a pass, but the way it was done was so ugly, so horrible, and not in a good way horrible, but like, as if they had some kind of chromosomal disease.
The wide eyes, are off putting too, generating that uncaney valley response the way this persons face does. I don't say it to be cruel to them, just, it's just not a good direction for a ninja turtle.

o.O At least the Turtles just have a wide nasal bridge in their design to account for the distance, and doesn't feel odd to me. Had they been rather close together like the '87 Turtles might have been worse. I find too close more off putting than wider than typical. A cartoon can get away with it, but lifelike designs prob wouldn't work. 1990 struck a happy medium though, but no nasal bridge taking up space.

Fair enough, they don't fill the void between as well as the other two. Raph's design there looks a bit more... I dunno, dog like (?) to me. Puppy nose Raph.

I feel like they started with Leo and it progressed narrower from there in an effort to make them all different. Though as family it might have made sense not to and just kept them more alike; genetics and all, mutated or not.

Although, if they were to stick with these designs, I really can't decide it if would bug me or not if Mikey and Raph were given nose jobs more similar to Leo and Donnie... The change might be a little jarring at this point?

The truth is, the janky Bayverse traumatized us all, I hope who ever was responsible is long gone. They killed our fandom, cashed in, and then went ahead and cemented the deal with Rise.
