Does anyone ever have stretches where they just can't seem to get anything out for days, and then BAM, you get on a roll and it just feels like you can't STOP?! I just had one of those. Couldn't seem to get more than a few words out all week, and today, I just sat down, with a story I'd been plucking at here and there, and now it's almost finished.

Absolutely. Haven't been able to write anything for my current novel "Rage" for almost a month, even though I had the entire next few chapters plotted out to a "T." Then I sat down and started writing it last night... flowing like ooze from a shattered TCRI cannister!
I know, that was a stupid joke. But where else can I make it?

Nah, it was a good joke. Perfectly fitting for the company. I'm kind of proud of this new one, it's the first time I've tried to seriously focus on Leo.

Good for you, Duckie! I definitely have days like that. Usually I do my best when my idea is new...once it goes a little stale, I lose my tempo then it becomes a chore to finish even if exciting, great things are soon to come. Got any tips? Or is the whole thing a mystery to you too?

I've written a few short stories and such with original characters but never actually shared them online.

If I start to find myself losing interest, I step back from the project for a bit and move to something else that I may have been neglecting, to see if it helps. Sometimes all you need is a bit of a "break" from the plot, and when you come back, it's with a fresh perspective and inspiration. That's why some of my tales have been on hiatus for a while- I come back to them when I get a new bout of inspiration for the story in question.

I honestly don't know if I will or not. They were kinda popular way back in the day, but we're talking, like, 2004-5, and people's tastes have radically changed and I kinda don't think anybody'd care now. I'm kinda trying to finish the one just because I never did, and someone's been kind of "advising" and giving me feedback on it, and it's going well. But once that's done I have no idea.

Well, my interest tends to run in cycles. I DO come back to them, it just takes a while, sometimes. One reason why I have so many going at once, it helps to keep me working even if my muse has wandered away from a particular project out of boredom or frustration.

Her female mini-pig is maaaybe the equivalent of a beagle in size, but a lot rounder since she's pregnant! She's pure black all over. She's maybe a year old, I think, and that's as big as she'll get. The male is smaller by quite a bit: he looks a lot like this. He's a bit older than six months, but that's about as big as he's supposed to get! My sister and I watched that movie so often when we were younger- I'm surprised we didn't wear out the tape, honestly. It's such a fantastic movie.

Ah! I messed up the html code, that's why. Here it is, and with spoiler tags, because apparently the image is huge.

As someone who considers himself a writer, and is constantly surrounded by writers, I have been having one hell of a time getting anything on paper for the last year.
I finally wrote a short story for a 5 page comic I was asked to do. But even that felt like squeezing blood out of a stone It's killing me because I have a ton of ideas for features, pilots, plays, musicals... But when it comes to actually writing lately I feel like I have nothing really to say. Which kills me. Hopefully this funk I'm in dissipates sooner than later because I'm getting sick of staring at a blank white Final Draft page every day. |

Decided to stick with self-publishing...
"Asylum" is now available for purchase. Very proud of my new baby. Got to hold my own copy in my hands... now, to get back to my current novel in progress, "Rage!"

What is this Rage book about? Also, your Asylum book looks really interesting!

"Rage" is a follow-up to "Asylum." A sequel that takes places ~5 years later, with an all-new cast and location. "Asylum" focuses on surviving the onset of an event, and "Rage" focuses on living in the fallout of said event.

Got home after a closing shift last night, and had to wait for some Alka-Seltzer to kick in, so I decided to try to get in a little extra writing, and actually got on a roll. For some reason, all my Mikey POV chapters are really easy to get out, and I'm wondering if I'm channeling him a bit, lol! Hopefully, I can finish the chapter up tonight or tomorrow, and post it. Can't wait to get it finished!
