Ha, I took a panorama today. It wasn't perfect, but I think it was better than that.

Took a hike with my cousin and her family up Mt. Pleasant. It was steep, but it was short and the view was amazing.
I'm still exhausted

The cat on the porch took another step in being a Good Cat and will follow when called now. She even approaches me by herself. She's still not allowed inside, but we're going to set up a space for her that's probably going to be better for the ramp. (I'd just prefer her kittens not be outside at all)

Aww! Sounds like you may have a new kitty soon, if she gets acclimated enough to people. Or your friend might.

Got off early from work today, had time for a relaxing bath and a short nap, and still plenty of time left or other things. It's been a nice quiet day at work for the most part too. Not too much stress or aggravation, so overall, a good day.

She's very acclimated to me! She came pretty close to barging in the door when I brought some food out for her.

I just spent five minutes holding her in my lap.

But I'm in Ohio and my uncle doesn't want her in the house (because he doesn't want to pay for her care even though I've insisted on multiple times that I would). He does acknowledge that the attention has been good for her, though.

Meanwhile, I have a cat corner outside my bathroom going to waste because their cat doesn't come upstairs...and besides her huge belly, the porch cat is pretty thin.

Phone interview over.

Now I can stop feeling nervous enough to almost throw up. lol I wasn't even nervous until today, esp since I've done this with the same company once or twice back in 2015 and knew it was an, straightforward easy interview, but eesh... the nerves just can't be kept away.

Edit: Now I'm meeting the territory manager for an in person interview on Monday.

So fingers crossed. It's just a part time and not a whole lot of hours, but it's flexible and I figure I can fill in the rest with something else. Or gain more locations after a while and have more hours. But at least the hourly pay is also more than what I was getting before.

5/14 - Met with the territory manager, and met a supervisor as well, and was offered the position. It's a whole handful of stores I'd be tending to as a merchandiser, but they're all near me like I'd hoped so that's great. Part time, but it's a good start and hopefully won't be hard to supplement with something else once I've got going good on this. I'm just surprised this is literally the first job I applied to after leaving Sears and so far it turned out well.

Other happy maker, I finally have my Jeep back after being gone for almost a week. Whole bunch of stuff was done to it, but at least the main issue was not transmission related like I feared, so that's a plus.

Today is Norway's Constitution Day, a bit of a bummer that I have to work since I also worked last year but it's only to 1800 and extra money so that's fine, missing out on the parades though.

And Teens React had a video about Russ.

Got a bunch of stuff for the museum set up to be printed.

Also, I'm probably going to get a bike just handed to me .

One of the board members and donors of the museum just has an enormous collection of bikes he's trying to whittle down and has offered me and my cousin one each. I'm not holding out on it being vintage, but that would be so freakin' cool

I've been wanting to get a bike for a while now, so this is a golden opportunity.

Now how will I get it back to Texas...?

Also, I think I have bats in my ceiling. That would probably put most people off, but I, having been through a bat phase at 13, am amused.

Bats are awesome (excluding vampire bats.. sorry.) Bats actually do things like eat a lot of flying bugs, including those that like to feed off of people and those that like to make bloody nuisances out of themselves by flying into peoples' homes.

Unfortunately, living bats can also make some people think / do dumb sh*t, as in -

"Hey look.. there's a bat on the ground. I wanna go pick it up."

Couldn't ignore this. My wife's father once actually went out in our yard to find a small bat lying on the ground, seemingly-dead. As he approached it, he saw it was alive, but hurt, and couldn't quite walk or fly. My wife gently picked it up and held it for a few minutes, and it let her pet him. When she tried to put it down, he resisted and clung to her hand. Eventually she put him down, said "Bye", and left him be. An hour later she went to check on him and he was gone, hopefully he just left on his own someplace safe.

I wouldn't advise anyone to do any of that, but it worked out well for her.

Yeah, a rescue probably should have been contacted . And absolutely should not have been handled. A bat on the ground unable to fly is bad news.

(OH GOD my favorite bat at that rescue group died in March last year! How did I never notice???)

Way to take one of my wife's most treasured memories and suck all the fun out of it. Awesome.

She didn't know any better, but it doesn't have to go too sour. It could still go somewhere. Sponsoring one of the bats at that sanctuary, maybe? It actually would help bats in rehabilitation or can't be released into nature.

I've followed them since 2006; their website is virtually unchanged since then, but they've always been awesome.

One day I'll get the chance to be a sponsor. I really wanted to when I first started learning about them, but wasn't able to. Since Van Gogh isn't possible anymore, I might have to go with THIS ONE.

(It actually has been twelve years )

I'm pretty sure we "sponsor" plenty of bats; a few dozen live in our yard already and seem to like it fine.

They mostly keep to themselves but sometimes they zip around. They're neat. Don't bother me none.

That's pretty cool. I can hear them occasionally, especially when I'm outside, but I have trouble being able to spot them at night.

I've had better luck seeing them when camping. Or going to that bridge in Austin, but I'd call that cheating. There's millions of Mexican Free Tails living there that come out at night. Pretty hard to miss

But hey, at least you know what to do if there is another grounded fella.

Wouldn't matter, I'm Irish. Anything and everything becomes "food" when it's boiled for 17 and a half hours alongside whatever else you had lying around. That's a hard rule.

Only YOU would be that crude, Leo, ROFLMFAO!!!

But it's totally true. Mr. D just made us a big ol pot of soup a few days ago, with leftover rotisserie chicken, ccanned veggies, and a box of penne noodles. Anything is fodder for the stewpot when you're Irish.

Started the new job and met my new supervisor. Eventually I'll be doing my assigned stores on my own, but she'll train me until I'm comfortable with it, thank goodness. I've read job reviews of people who got plenty of great training and have great supervisors and managers...and others who have had minimum training and crappy superiors. Very thankful to find myself in the former, not the latter.

Supervisor seems like a great person. Been with the company for 10 years so that's a good sign; also used to be the one doing these exact stores all the time herself so she's familiar with them and the managers.

Looks like I may also get some training in with a fellow newbie under her wing as she had an in-person interview (more just a short meet and chat before extending the offer) while I was there. Fortunately I've also been spared doing my nearby Kohl's, switched with another store (I have several). I know that Kohl's is a large dept to take care of, so I really don't mind... The other new woman will be handling that one, but I'll be there helping out some via training though.
