Ed Mcguinness TMNT #100 cover

Anyone else in love with the Ed Mcguinness variant cover for issue #100?

I just find myself really drawn to it, and it's now one of the few IDW issues I own in my collection.
It's a Midtown Comics exclusive, where they did an interview with him and he stated that not only would he like to do more TMNT, but he has drawn more ninja turtles, for fun, than anything else. I'd love to see him do more covers and maybe even interiors.

So, not saying it's the greatest TMNT piece ever, but it is a great look for the turtles. How do you all feel?

EDIT: Sorry I couldn't provide the best image at this moment.

That looks super dope. I get a big 4Kids vibe from it.

I can see that. He'd be a great fit for a Spider-Man/TMNT crossover.

But just saying that makes me want to see a Mark Bagley Ninja Turtle.

I love Ed. I don't love it for everything, but he strikes a good balance between "stylized" and "iconic". Huge fan of his Superman and Superman/Batman runs.

Pretty spiffy piece of work.

I have the same reaction to his style. It doesn't all work for me. In fact, a lot of his humans end up as this mix of powerful and goofy that just doesn't really work for me.

For creatures like the TMNT, I think his style is fantastic. Again, hoping to see him on more covers. I was willing to get ripped off for this one. But I'd be curious to see if his Shredder would work as well for me.

The only stuff of his that doesn't always work for me are his women. Great bodies, but sometimes he draws the eyes too big or too close together. Not always, but occasionally.

Nobody's perfect.

It's incredible work, truly, & I really like it, it's dope as heck. Would it be my first choice for a series' look, though? Probably not.

I would hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, but, for me, it looks a little too... I dunno, Big 2-ish, or something? Mirage heads probably know where I'm coming from. The TMNT stuff we grew up with wasn't as clean/refined, & I've personally come to prefer things that way; sorta indie looking, grungey, imperfect.

I can understand that. Lawson's work, primarily during CAW, is some of my favorite TMNT art. Also a huge fan of Eastman/Laird pencils. I share your love of seeing TMNT done in an "indie" style.

This def has more of a "Big 2" style, but it sort of reminds me of some of the "edgier" TMNT 90's marketing we'd see back in the day. A slight mix of Fred Wolf and Mirage. That's just how it's resonating with me though. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

TBH, Raphael is totally reminding of of that TMNT football they sold back in the day, anyone else have it?
