Question Vernon's Belt Pocket

Silly question: does anyone have any idea what's supposed to be in the little pocket on Vernon's belt in the '87 cartoon? It's vaguely gun-holster-shaped, with it's odd little angle on the bottom, but it's CLEARLY not that, and I doubt it's a weapon of any kind (or he would have tried to use it on SOMEONE, during one of the many times he'd been threatened during the series run *LOL*).

Any ideas?

I'd assume a tape recorder or something like that. Didn't April use that mini-purse that hung from her belt for the same purpose?

Wow now I've seen threads about EVERYTHING

But in all seriousness now, good call, OP. I've never really cared about Vernon's pocket. hell, perhaps I had never even noticed it.

Yeah, never did I imagine that Vernon's pocket would get a thread of its own.

Its probably where he keeps his dildo.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

I don't think I ever consciously took notice of that... Hm. Vernon with a gun or other weapon? Somehow I doubt it. lol That guy was afraid of his own shadow. I like Jester's idea, or some other work-related gadget.

Or, what the heck, TMNT was a little ahead of its time in some ways... so it's his primitive early version of a flip phone before they existed in the real world. (Lord knows April would look up info on her computer at work as if the internet existed, too.)

Is that belt pocket always seen in all episodes where Vernon appears?

I like the multitool idea. Or maybe a pager, since it was the 90's?

These forums are a box of a surprises. It's as if these forums are a FW series spin-off of some sort, which is fitting, I guess.

Thanks for your ideas, guys!

Actually, the entire reason I posted this question was for a custom figure project. I'm making the main Channel 6 Happy Hour News Team, and I wanted to determine accessories for Vernon, and whether WHATEVER is in that pocket was ever shown on screen (Personally, my theory is one of those switch-blade combs, 'cuz he seems like a guy who'd keep a comb on him at all times to do his hair. *LOL*)

Anyway, if it never appeared on screen, I'm not worried about what was actually IN the pocket. I just made the figure with a fake belt pocket.

For the record, already did April years ago, recently had her featured as a Cool Custom of the Week on Toy News International.

Custom NECA-Style '87 Cartoon April O'Neil

(And yeah, the object on the back of HER belt is a tape recorder. )

So, here's a second question:

Can anyone think of some good character-specific accessories for the Burne Thompson figure? Only ideas I've got are a clipboard, a sheaf of papers, and a black office telephone. Pretty lame. Any iconic, unique, or episode-specific objects he uses?

Great looking custom of Vernon!

Yeah, I think "Tiffany" as an "accessory" would be hilarious.

His action figure had a bullhorn accessory, if I remember.

It always bothered me that Burne Thompson had a napkin stuck to his shoe as a part of the figure. Why? He did not have a gag related to that.

Oh, agreed. That's part of the reason why I didn't bother getting his figure to make my custom. Used a Toon Vernon and a Toon Irma for theirs, but I made my own Burne head. Like, none of his figure made any sense. He doesn't routinely carry a sammich, he doesn't routinely use a bullhorn (he was loud enough on his own), he doesn't have stains on his shirt or paper on his shoe, he wasn't a slob (in fact, he was almost always very well put together).

I dunno about a Tiffany photo, because again, he never actually had a picture of her in the show. But . . . I HAVE been known to make a whole custom figure as an accessory to another figure, so it WOULD be kinda hilarious to make a static Tiffany statue-figure as an accessory for Burne! *LOL* Hmm . . . possibilities . . . .
