Grading MIB/MOC

Just curious as to why some collectors choose to grade? Is there a point to it besides the resale factor?

When u move the cards don't get beat to crap and when u display no dust/ no yellowing to card.

It’s easier to preserve your favorite carded and boxed action figures by grading them if you are a collector and they display nicely.

The only point in collecting something is the knowledge that at some point in the future you will try to sell it at the highest price possible, trying to get back the money you've spent for it.

Generally speaking, the more mint on card at item is, the higher it's resale.
Loose < On card with bubble dents, dings, etc. < on card no issues. Getting an item graded brings a third party perspective so that a potential buyer isn't just relying on the seller's opinion but can have some assurance that that what they are buying is of the quality they are looking for, especially when photos/descriptions/etc. generally leave much to be desired. So for those particular collectors where it's not just about having the item, but have a "high quality" version of the item for display purposes, personal aesthetics, future resale, etc. then getting a graded item might make sense. For others who don't care, grading is not for them.

The same services are available for toys, comics, cards, etc. for basically the same reasons. So in sum, why grade? Resale, protection, bragging rights at "having the best," quality assurance, display are probably most of the reasons.
