Michelangelo's nunchuks: chain or rope?
Do you prefer to see Michelangelo's nunchaku depicted as being connected by a rope or connected by a chain?

Either, doesn't matter to me which.
Though I assume both have their pros and cons. Rope takes more wear and will eventually need replacing, but it is quiet. Metal chains will last almost indefinitely, but they can make noise and for a ninja trying to be stealthy out of combat that probably isn't good. |

I've always figured the only reason people drew it as rope was they were too lazy to draw all the little links in the chain.

So I think it's better to combine some ordinary Japanese martial arts (judo, karate) with both historical ninjas, and the modern ninja myth. |

His original weapons by far. I mean that's what was originally intended by the creators and it works better than the grappling hook. There's only so many ways you can make the grappling hook look cool in action sequences.
EDIT: what a minute: you meant the styling of the nunchuks? Whoops. Well I'd go with chains as it aesthetically looks cooler. |

I'd say the chain. it just looks more lethal. Also I liked how in the 2012 series it nunchucks doubled into kusarigama.

Chain since it looks cooler and more intimidating, even though it probably doesn't help the turtles at being stealthy and I'm not sure about its combat effectiveness vs the rope.

Well, they should all have shuriken on them. So there's that.

Chain looks the coolest & makes the most sense but I can't fault any artist who doesn't wanna go through drawing it that way. It's a huge pain.

This logic is the reason the 2012 show originally had all the turtles with bladed weapons.

I always liked the chained 'chucks, although I will admit that the TMNT '90 movie did have a nice set of what looked like roped nunchucks.

I might be leaning more forwards chains between the batons for looks only, but honestly it doesn't really matter.
The pros and cons of having chucks' with cord or chain are so minuscule for in the context of a action property, the main difference is in the spin where with a cord you have more control and more precision, while the chain is faster and looks more impressive when you are doing spinning performance. I'm not really a fan of overly spinning and tricking, it looks flashy but also dumb. And the you can choke someone just as well with a cord as with a chain, so for me it's less about the material that connects the nuncaku batons, but more on how it's used. And as long as the batons isn't metal or the chain/cord is way too long, I'm good. |

Never given enough thought to it to say i "care" but I do think chain is cooler. I've never even thought of nunchucks with a rope connection to be honest.

What, on a given night? On a given night they'd probably use 0. How hard would it be for them to tuck away 3 or 4 into their belt "just in case," though?
