The Reporter and the Robot
Here's one of my classic OT reimaginations. This starts out with the familiar "New York's Shiniest" storyline but quickly starts to incorporate some other elements of TMNT lore.
It starts with April sneaking into the police warehouse to check out the Rex-1 robot. These are the very early sketches, still trying to figure out April's appearance. Big Robot fight to come later!

The Reporter and the Robot Part II
The Super Foot Soldier design was one of my favorite looking characters from the Archie comics. How great would it be to see him rumble with Rex-1!
I hadn't figured out all the motivation of this particular scene, other than that I wanted a giant robot fight with April looking on. The best I could figure was that Shredder sent up the Super Foot Soldier to either steal or sabatogue the Rex-1 unit. That's all I have for this particular sequence of the story. I moved on to some other events without wrapping up this battle. The evil Rex clones show up later in my "comic" so perhaps I would have created a plot line involving the Super Foot capturing Rex and taking him back down to the Technodrome so Shredder could copy his programming. April would have stowed away on the Drill module in an attempt to help Rex and expose Shredder's plans.

The Reporter and the Robot Part ?
Continuing my reinterpretations of the classic OT episodes, I had planned on incorporating some elements from "The Catwoman from Channel 6" into my existing story involving April and Rex. Sometime after Rex's fight with the Super Foot Soldier, Rex would accompany April as she tried to track down Shredder's plans.
This scene borrows heavily from the classic scene where April gets zapped by Shredder's matter transporter. In my version, the evil Rex clones created by Shredder ambush Rex and April in the transporter room, resulting in a ricochet blast hitting the control panel and kicking off a chain reaction which results in April getting harmed by a serious explosion. Fortunately, Rex-1 defeats the clones and carries her to safety... at least until the effects of the matter transporter kick in later on.

Uh... yeah... sorry, that's not what I was/am/or ever will be going for.
This one is clean and is an attempt to stay true to the look and spirit of the OT while taking some liberties with the plots. But thanks for the positive feedback. I have a few more pages to scan in but it may be a while before I work on new pages.

Archie misc.
Some group sketches I did of the Archie style:
The coloring on April's face didn't work out like I had hoped here... old colored pencils... not recommended. "The Uncanny Trio" from Archie TMNT Adventures #27.

Sick work on Raphael in that one. Looks like an edgier version of Mitchroney's stuff.
Wyrm is also drawn to a T. Good details. |

However, I took the pose directly from Mitchroney's own art. I believe it was a pin-up at the back of one of the Digests books.

Primitive Dribble....
I'm not proud of this one. I started drawing the turtles again for the first time in years when the 2k3 show came out and I started collected Mirage comics.
It was part of a story I started years ago about a Shredder War between Shredder and Karai (based more on the Mirage/Konami Tournament Fighters version than the 2k3 show): I haven't even scanned the rest of this little scene and don't know if I even want to... Ugh this is really hard for me to look at now. This one isn't quite so bad, but it looks flat. Raph is supposed to be walking forward although the flatness of the picture kills much of that effect. An early attempt to render the Mitchroney style.

Nice sketches. My personal Faves are the Image Turtle Sketches though. They look really good. I also think you do a good jod with OT April.

A bit more old toon/Archie inspired sketches:
Some turtle profiles, April in a gi, Cherubae from the Archie Digests #3 cover (hate that my Turtle heads look kinda lumpy here.

It's Splinter, NOT "Spinter!"
Thanks, Buffy. Coming from you, that's a good compliment.
Here's a Mutatin' Splinter Mutation chart that I haven't finished. I did this without the reference chart from the toy, but I kinda like how it has turned out so far. EDIT: HOLY COW, I just noticed I misspelled "Splinter." DOH!

Vanguard!
I picked up the first issue of Vanguard this weekend for a buck.
In honor of that accomplishment, here's my take on Vanguard and his girlfriend, Roxanne Wells as they appeared in Image's TMNT Volume 3:

I was watching "Leonardo, Renaissance Turtle" the other day and really enjoyed the Leonardo/April team-up element which is also seen in "Leonardo Vs. Tempestra" and "The Unidentified Flying Leonardo." Here's a quick sketch of both of them side by side. I admit Leo is pretty generic-looking in this pic and lacking his swords. I think this is a pretty boring pose and would like to try something more action oriented in the future:

Works in Progress
Some more WIP attempts to capture the Mitchroney style (which slight modifications), which can be difficult for his in-your-face action shots:
Featuring the "Uncanny Trio" from TMNT Adventures #27:

Catwoman April
From screenpics from "The Catwoman from Channel Six":
For comparison's sake: Always loved that character design. Sometimes it fluctuates throughout the episode though, especially the nose design. I'd be great to see the original model sheets!
