To be honest do Koya and Bludgeon have any reason to stick with the Foot? They could just go off on their own and separate from Karai altogether.

Karai's not with the Foot though, so neither are Koya or Bludgeon at this point.

my guess is that Koya and Bludgeon stick with Karai because there is not too many other places where they'd be accepted.
and it'd be difficult for them to make it on their own due to their injuries.

Koya makes me excited to see her cause character growth for Leo. But as cool as that seems, this issue leaves me craving a battle between Bludgeon, Metal Head, and Donnie.

I'm loving how all the mythology exclusive to the IDW TMNT series is being woven into this story, but in an organic way that suits the narrative and not in a gratuitous continuity porn sort of way. While it might leave newcomers with questions, it doesn't overwhelm them and you can still appreciate the story in something of a vacuum.

And it's nice to be reminded after a two year absence how much I like these characters. Especially Koya; she's like a female Raphael with all her temper tantrums and angsty pouting.

As for Bludgeon, it's nice to get a bead on his personality after so much time not having one, though "calm and collected" is a bit boring (though I understand how it makes him a foil for Koya). His accessories remind me of a stereotypical surfer guru, so I can't help but read him with one of those voices. But that's me projecting personality ONTO him and not something intentional, admittedly.
Mellow surfer is fair.

I started with two thoughts: if he has the personality to match his appearance, super-predator, well that's kind of expected. But making him more adaptable, more reasoning, well. He's being like water, to borrow a line.

He's the most well adjusted of the three. He moves forward. (It's what sharks do!) Seems like the right nature. Aggressiob just didn't feel right.

So sure, surfer attitude (but minus any surfer lingo). Just matter of fact and take what comes.

I'd seriously consider cutting my losses and getting over it if I were her, before she loses something else of even more vital importance in a rematch.
I agree with this

I just love Karai's subtle facial expression when she grabs the shuriken after she is told she won't get to kill Natsu. The reactions in the following panel sell it more.
