Is Usagi a tradition?
I realize that Usagi has been in every animated series of tmnt. So hopefully he'll show up in Rise. Seeing how he'd be designed for that show is something to look forward to.
But now this video has me imagining something pretty scary. If The Next Mutation had lasted past its first season do you think we would have seen a Usagi for that show? How would they have done that? Man in rabbit suit? I would not have looked forward to that lol. On a scale of 1 to 10 how awful would that costume have looked? Last edited by Dejablue; 09-29-2018 at 01:58 AM. |

He is. Stan Sakai is friends with Laird and Eastman, I'm guessing. Otherwise Usagi wouldn't have been a recurrent guest character in the TMNT franchise.

Isn't Usagi currently licensed by another animation studio?

Next Mutation Usagi would have been interesting. Also a Platinum Dunes Usagi.

If Stan Sakai can make more money, I am happy.

'Rise' wants too badly to be "different," so I wouldn't hold my breath on Usagi showing up. Obviously his owner's approval is the biggest hurdle, and if I recall he didn't originally even want Usagi being in the 2012 series. This one? Good luck. Maybe if 'Rise' becomes a bit less ridiculous later? I can't really see the 'Rise' team being allowed the level of creative freedom they might want with him, possibly turning him into a joke with the rest of it. (And probably no way in hell would he have showed up in Next Mutation.)
Personally, I'm not expecting to see him at all in this one. But I'd bet that he'll be back elsewhere someday. Esp if he does end up with his own cartoon. How can you not do a crossover in his for once? I'll always kind of love the fact that these characters from completely different series have this longtime friendship. Really I just see like...if Usagi were in the Next Mutation...
He'd look like one of these characters lol. Also, Stan Sakai didn't want him in 2012? Why-ever not? |

Oh, good old Zoobilee Zoo. (Still have that old theme song in my head.) That's probably a rather generous/kind thought to consider it would have been like those designs. Next Mutation seems low budget enough that they might have just modified an old Easter Bunny costume.

Alternate Earth
It could be a third film: When Krang is sent back to Dimension X, a rift in the spacetime continuity accidentally opens a portal to 17th century Japan on an alternate Earth where bipedal humanoid talking animals are the dominant species.
