Is it just me or is Dave Wachter improving?

Have you had any problems with his artwork in the past?

Not that it's ever been bad, but I do think Wachter''s art looked more... refined this time around, is I guess how I would put it? In any case, great stuff. Best TMNTU issue in a while.

Yeah. It's not like Scale Tail had ANY personality in the first place. He was an action figure and a video game boss.

This issue was great! Awesome sideplot that still contributes a lot to the ongoing. Loved Flynn’s writing of the characters, especially when he turns the old hack comic dialogues on their own heads like on page one and right after Alopex makes her sappy soapbox soliloquy. Wachters art was superb as always and was very well suited to this story. Can’t wait to ssssssssee what happens next!

Oh, and backup was short and sinister! Curnow and Tunica another well matched dream team of creators!

Great issue, good character bits with a huge hunk of wierd stuff and mutant animals, this stuff is my jam.

Art was great, though my favorite panels might be:

Here's my full summary and review of TMNT Universe #19 at TMNT Entity.

Flynn switches gears really well to fit with the tone of the IDW continuity. Honestly, I've only ever read his kids stuff like Sonic, Mega Man and the Nick TMNT comics, so I wasn't sure how he'd acclimate to the darker IDW TMNT series. He nailed it, though.

I guess my only question is if this story takes place before or after the Triceraton invasion? Anybody asked Curnow that, yet? It's just kinda weird that the city has been ransacked by aliens and all the Turtles and Team Nobody care about are pet shop animals.

After a busy week I finally got read this. This has probably been the best TMNTU issue to date. I liked the Raph and Alopex dynamic in this issue. I thought is funny how
Spoiler:
Fast Alopex turned on Zodi after trying to befriend her

And I can't believe I am saying this but I actually like the back-up even more than the issue itself. I am usually very critical of the back up, but I love the depiction of
Spoiler:
The Rat King in this issue, definitely my personal favorite interpretation of Rat King Yet!!!!

Amazing Issue, they knocked it out of the ball park with this issue.

Y'know I never thought I'd missed the Turtles having beaks but I really dig it here.
