"The Queen Of Soul" Aretha Franklin dead at 76

The 18 Grammy-winning, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, Presidential Medal of Freedom winning, 76 year old musical artist has passed away, surrounded by her loved ones. Her career has spanned over 6 decades, earned her a lot of awards and a lot of titles over time, including "the voice of the civil rights movement". She performed at Martin Luther King Jr.'s memorial as well as Jimmy Carter's, Bill Clinton's, & Barack Obama's inaugurations. The list of her accomplishments goes on and on.

My thoughts & prayers are with her family/friends, rest in peace Aretha Franklin.

My heart goes out to her and her family. Met her last few days be peaceful, painless, and full of love and admiration.

sigh.

I hope kids today are introduced to older music. there is this stupid thinking that just because music is 'old sounding', people, especially younger people, will tune out in droves.

it doesn't matter HOW old a song is. if it's well produced, it can last for CENTURIES.
Rappers take note. SOUL MUSIC is the wave of the future. that actually takes talent to do.

What an amazing talent and a kind soul. The world is darker with her loss.

She had one of the most amazing voices in the music industry and she was also an amazing performer as well. R.I.P. Queen of Soul.

Never listened to any of her songs... I mean I probably have at some point on the radio or on a tv commercial, but didn't know it was hers. But anyway, I know very well who she was, she was quite famous and a music icon. Pretty sure my mother had a CD of her in her pile of CDs and vinyls somewhere.

Perhaps it's time for me to check out Aretha Franklin's work.

RIP

This is probably one of her more poplike songs (becauase Wham was a popgroup).

Since we're sharing favorite songs by Aretha Franklin, this is my favorite song done by her.

Otherwise, I'm bummed that her health took a turn for the worse, and that she passed away.
