Didn't Nintendo essentially hand over the IPs of Banjo, Conker, etc. to Rare/Microsoft as a parting gift around 2002?

Funny how Battletoads happened. Because the developers wanted a game that capitalized on the TMNT. and that game went on to become beloved and a classic.

I'm sure a lot of us do but I doubt it would happen. Makes sense to since some of them would likely preform better on their platforms, though Nintendo themselves don't seem interested in them. Phil Spencer seems like he's somewhat okay with some of their games appearing on the Switch, although I have my reservations on why I don't completely buy that assumption. MS may have plans for them such as KI and Battletoads. Banjo appearing in Smash might be used as a marketing tool to get some of those players interested in a new Banjo if the series ever gets green-lighted.

No actually. Rare just become a second-party developer for Nintendo until 2002. The Big N already owned DK and Star Fox (of which Rare only worked on one game for the series) but Rare have always had IP ownership of Banjo, Conker, Battletoads, Jetpac, etc.

The gameplay looks like it could have been very fun and has a great fluid and sharp look.

Too bad its showcasing some of the ugliest designs since Rise. Holy ugly hot steaming diarrhea. With corn.
