A new report says that a deal with Pattinson hasn't been finalized. Nichols Hoult is a contender as well.

I read that too, but it's probably a done deal.
Nah, not gonna bother with this nonsense. I agree with someone who commented on one of the articles about this: It's fairly clear that WB hates and is ashamed of the entire DC brand. They want the money and prestige that comes along with the super-hero "boom", but they also secretly think it's all lowbrow trash and don't want to put forth more than a bare-minimum effort towards the presentation, because comic books and their adaptations are embarrassing kiddie junk. It's the only plausible explanation for going on two decades of baffling and horrifying decisions that have taken place at the corporate level of DC across all media.

I don't think Pattinson is a bad choice. He's got the right age for a prequel movie if that's still what they are doing, he's attractive which is something Bruce Wayne is and he got a strong jawline.
And, most pictures I see him in, he looks a little bit tired, which would be accurate for a guy playboy-in at day and dress up as a bat beating up people with mental help issues in backalleys at night. |

He's also only 33 years old, which would technically make him the "youngest" Batman actor, right? Granted this movie doesn't come out for a few year so he'd be around 35 by the time it comes out. The good thing is if they intend to keep him around for a while he'd be in his 30's and 40's for a long time and won't get "too old."
For most people Batman is like an immortal 35 year old. So having an actor in his mid-30's is ideal. |

I think Pattinson will be fine. Nolan's got him in a movie soon, I heard. And I've yet to see Nolan really crap the bed outside of Katie Holmes in the first Batman movie.
I think the biggest issue with this movie is going to be the story. We've been getting a LOT of Batman stuff lately, and it's all been the same story, more or less.

Except, I wouldn't mind seeing far more comic-accurate versions of both characters. Also, Olivia Wilde for Catwoman!

Like anything, I'll see how it pans out before I jump to making any snap judgements. That being said, Pattison definitely wouldn't have been at the top of my casting picks.
But I'm certainly curious, and will give him the benefit of the doubt until I see it. Who knows, he could surprise us. |

I hope Riddler is in. We really need to a serious done Riddler in a movie and not the Jim Carrey version.

I would have much rather had a Riddler movie to close out the Nolan trilogy than what we got. Nolan's sensibilities would lend itself well to a Riddler/Batman story.

We had that already- on Gotham. Best Riddler version to date ! (Nevermind that he had that "bromance" with Pengy. I liked them as partners in crime/frienemies)

The book is great, but the film not so much. Supporting characters didn't get enough screen time. Dumbeldore and Hagrid's reactions to Harry's name coming out of the Goblet were different. Plus, from the behind-the-scenes Mike Newell didn't seem to enjoy doing it that much and it comes across that way in the film.

Agreed. A Nolan Riddler movie would've been great.

Make that three of us. Catwoman was done well, but it did the opposite of its intention, it made Bane forever in other media a lackey instead of his own man.

Screen tests are reportedly underway with Pattison and Hoult, and production will begin in the first quarter of 2020

Hard "no" on Hoult. Yeah, I've seen him in plenty of roles and even genres. He doesn't have the presence. He could be, like, a random goon Batman takes down in an alley... not Batman.
