Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Battle Nexus

Hey, I remember playing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 Battle Nexus as a kid, but never managed to beat it, and I didn't watch the cutscenes, but I notice that they are different from the TV show. Does this game follow the same storyline as the TV show?

It followed its own storyline similar to the cartoon.
Animations have been specially drawn for the game.

Yeah, I noticed that, it was a bit funny when their own cutscenes suddenly went over to some scenes from the TV show lol.

I only bought that game cause I found out you could unlock the original arcade game in one of the levels. Even though it didn't have any sound, I was thrilled to get back to the old Arcade game.

Prior to this "unlock" I didn't know the storyline or realize it had picked up from the first TMNT game.

Yeah I bought this game just for the arcade unlock as well

I heard the 3rd game in this series has TIT as an unlock so I may pick that up as well.

I played it and completed the normal storyline. It was a great game, especially with the new character, Slashuur.

My copy of the game had a bug where the arcade game wouldn't unlock.

Do you have the PC version? Only the PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube versions can unlock the arcade game.

The 2004 game also followed it's own story which at that point I had never seen the 2003 cartoon so was quite surprised the episodes played out differently. Not sure why they decided to go that route. I think the first 2003 game was the best as it didn't have all this poor platform jumping silliness Battle Nexus did.

It's a shame they never released the third game Mutant Nightmare on PC.

Yeah. The first game was the best. When I played it, I had a similar sensation as if I was playing old Turtles games on NES.

I think the 2nd was better than the 1st. There weren't so many plot holes in the plot, and replaying the game 4 times became tedious and irritating.

I didn't care much about the plot, but I found gameplay of BattleNexus boring. First game had just unstoppable action and hard bosses, not much really, but enough to be very dynamic and entertaining. BattleNexus, IMO, lost drive and was much less fun for it.

So... you found it both boring and entertaining?

I liked both games but prob sway more towards the 2nd one.

Never got on with the third one too much and after I unlocked Turtles in Time I pretty much stopped playing it

No.
I found first game to be entertaining and the second - boring.

I brought the game back in 2005 and I thought it was okay. I didn't like the gameplay because it was hard and boring. Cheat codes made it more enjoyable, though. I enjoyed the storyline and liked that there was less censorship than in the 2003 cartoon. I missed out on the first half of season two at the time, so a lot of the cutscenes were new to me. It was also worth getting for the arcade game, which I noticed was mentioned on the box art before I got it.

Thank you for clearing that up for me! I rarely read internet posts closely enough.

Can't say I'm surprised with the controls the way they were. Those character models weren't made to do platforming.
