Anyway, I also didn't know anyone's names, outside of Jyn's. I guess you're supposed to buy the toys and learn them that way. The names are intentionally weird-sounding, and so unless you know them ahead of time, anytime someone says his name it just sounds like mumbo-jumbo.

Which makes it a whole lot like the original Trilogy.

I found most of them memorable and cared vey much when they died, although I will concede that it had more to do with the actor's performances than the writing.

Not necessarily. The OT had easy-to-name characters like Luke, Ben, Solo, and Chewie.

I was referring to the fact that many fans only knew the more obscure characters names after they got the action figures.
And since the whole point of the movie is that it's populated by obscure characters, I think it makes sense.

I'm not watching a 7 minute youtube video, but Rogue One ended fine. I hope he doesn't say the main characters should have lived.

I've heard of that series. It's just a tongue in cheek parody. (Frankly, I wish some of the characters had lived.)

Bodhi (who I assume you mean from process of elimination) is played by an English actor, who uses his natural accent in the film, therefore it's English, and doesn't sound at all Irish or Scottish.

In June 2016, Lucasfilm hired the Oscar-nominated writer to rework Rogue One: A Star Wars Story after the studio was unsatisfied by the state of director Gareth Edwards' movie. By August, he was taking a leading role in postproduction and oversaw reshoots to fix a few issues, including the film's ending. Gilroy ultimately was paid millions for his work, and many consider him the film's ghost director.

I don't know, the original movie is ok, it had some cool ideas but overall it just felt so unnecessary and created more problems than doing anything positive for the franchise.

Maybe this bolder version would've been more interesting even if not better. I mean I have no real interest in ever watching this movie again, maybe the other version would've been more polarizing but more engaging?

That's probably the perfect way to sum up how I imagine the original cut was. But who knows. We'll never know. We'll probably never see a single deleted scene from the actual Gareth Edwards cut.
