This is another one for the history books, as he had the oldest TCW jockey ever, and joins Secratariat as only the second undefeated TCW. Wow.

Secratariat is the best of all 13 horses who won the Triple Crown. His abnormally large heart gave him the literal horse power to win by two dozen lengths.

Maybe he wins, maybe not. It does not change the fact Seattle Slew was undefeated. And Secretariat lost before before winning the triple crown.

Hmm, then somebody at NBC made a boo-boo. They named the wrong horse!

There both great horses, and I think it could go either way on most days. Secretariat wins on his one magic race though lol. Last edited by turtle1237; 06-11-2018 at 05:40 PM. |

Lol, no, I just took the commentator at their word and didn't look it up. I remembered that he had an almost unblemished record, but, whether it was before or after, I didn't remember.

Now we need to take a page from the War Admiral and Seabiscuit page and have the Old Champ "War Admiral" and the new champ, Seabiscuit have a 1 on 1 race and sell out a crowd lol. Yes American Pharaoh vs Justify lol. Ok it wont happen. But that's what happen in the 1940's. War Admiral was last years news story and Seabiscuit was the new kid on the block, but both with amazing stories, and they had there 1 on 1 race that sold out. It was not really a official race, since it was only 2 horses. But there was public demand for it. Old triple champ vs new Champ. Wonder if we see something like that ever again? |

Now that's a race I would PAY to see! I'd even hitchhike to wherever they held it just to say I was there. And I'd bet on it, too. On Pharoah, just based on his achievements, vs the relatively "inexperienced" three-year-old.

Both horses are still young for a repeat of this 1940's story. Its not like Secretariat and Seattle Slew runs that happen 5 or 6 years apart lol. Again every one knows of the fame race between the 2, but it was no derby or title race so to speak. People wanted the 1 on 1 match, paid the money and got one of the best showings in race horse history. |
