I'll spring for ONE early page in due time I think, but one I like with at least a couple of turtles on it (OR Shredder, if it's issue #10). I do like the page with Cerebus on it, but yeah, way too expensive for my pocket right now.

This weekend I went to C2E2 here in Chicago. Saw alot of sweet tmnt figures that I would have loved to buy if they weren't priced via ebay. I was able to pick these two sketch card/ prints up. They just caught my eye and I couldn't say no. The artist is, Gabriel P Hernandez.
I also brought my hardcopy of Dooney's Challenges and he was kind enough to do a little drawing and sign it for me. Last edited by Shogun26; 05-13-2014 at 09:52 AM. |

Here is my commission from Michael Dooney and a few quick sketches by David Petersen of Mouse Guard. He did the 8-micro variants and the 4 covers for Turtles in Time coming out soon. I couldn't be happier. They both are easy to talk to and their work is amazing.

Man that Dooney April cover is so cool! A cut scene from volume 1, #2, no doubt. Or maybe one of the Turtles' dreams that evening?

Cheers, someone else gave me the link too. Evidently either due to IP address, not paying to have it listed outside eBay.com, or because it is US only shipping wise... I can't see it in any eBay search, even on eBay.com, even when searching worldwide.

$700...personally, i feel that it's already over priced.
is this just a bubble or is this the new tmnt market??? i believe it's a bubble, but i guess we'll have to wait a year or three and see. while it's not quite the same thing, i remember a similar value/price jump happening with Transformer toys. for about a year or few when the movie was rumored, but before it came out, TF figures were a buzz. it was due to movie rumor and all the reissue figures that were being released, stirring up adult collector memories. not long after the movies came out, the figures began dropping in price again. i can find a ton of TF's on ebay now for much more affordable prices than they were fetching back in 2004-2008. |

IMHO, and I tke the fact I don't read or follow any modern comics into account, I have not really seen significant decreases in demand or market value for copper age OA or comics. Generally the opposite Let's consider most of the older TMNT fans, those who were adolescent with OT and vol.1 Mirage, are now getting to be in their late 20's and early 30's. There is a greater possibility, now, the fans in this age bracket are develpoing careers/finances that allow for such expenditures. I don't see lil joey buying this page with his paper route money... Who ever is bidding on it has their reasons. I would most likely consider Eastman's recent eBay auctions to deviate from FMV greatly. It doesn't, however, correlate how much notice was made by those auctions and whether those finishing prices drew "non-regular TMNT fans" to begin looking at TMNT OA. Jumps in prices that much are always the talk of town. Negative publicity is still publicity. Believe me, I hope this is a bubble. I like my steady influx of OA pages at reasonable/semi-reasonable prices.

Well, I'm not sure if there is a bubble or not, but I can say that before Eastman started selling, prices were indeed rising. Not at the rate that we've seen lately, but prices have been slowly and steadily rising these last few years. Since prices were so reasonable to begin with i think most of us hardly noticed. But the truth is there have been several 2k sales outside of these recent auctions that I know of for a fact.
What I think is likely to happen is that these prices will not likely keep so high, at least for these type of pages with not much content (eg no turtles, lots of dialog, etc.) That said, even if they drop back some, they will still be MUCH higher than they were before the rise. So either way I think we are entering a new era where prices will be quite a bit higher than they've been. For good. And I won't be surprised at all if when the dust settles early art starts at 2k and RTNY 1k, with variations due to content |
