looking great so far, as expected nice clean cuts, and appropriate joints for Ms april, Seriously she needs them, at least the knee and elbow ones are a must. are you keeping her boots / toes as is?

Thanks, guys!

BMo: The joints are from a Star Wars Ahsoka Tano figure. Ahsoka's shoulders are going to April's elbows; the knees are the knees.

gunstarheroblue: The cool part about it is that the cuts don't have to be clean or measured out. The way I did it was to make the Ahsoka pieces longer than necessary and make them narrow at the ends, then cut April wherever and drill holes in the April parts. That way I could slide the Ahsoka parts up or down as necessary (comparing them to the original leg at first, and now to the modified leg) to get the desired length/knee placement.

And yeah, I'm going to leave the boots as is, since it doesn't look like anyone else in the line is getting ankle articulation. I kinda want to keep April looking as "factory" as I can -- so basically I'm giving her the articulation Playmates should have (what the Turtles got), but not going beyond that in terms of modifications and painting.

Though I guess, since April's got that waist cut, she'll surpass the boys by one POA. Girl power?

April's been more/less done for ages now... I kept sanding and repainting the knees to further work on tiny bits of paint rub (kinda hard to eliminate when the joints are this small and not easily disassembled), and then when I was done with that I just never took her off the work table to take pics. But I finally did that, so here are a couple.

Horridus!

From the pages of Savage Dragon and Freak Force and TMNT... HORRIDUS!

Body: Marvel Legends Infinite Spider-Girl
Feet: DC Universe Classics Cheetah
Spikes: $1 ankylosaurs + sculpting
Head: $1 stegosaurus + plastic fork prongs + sculpting
Tail: $1 horned lizard + Mega Bloks joint + sculpting

I made this figure for the 2014 Secret Santa customizer event over at The Fwoosh -- and it's easily the most involved custom I've done to date. Lots and lots of chopping and sculpting and sanding and sighing and swearing... to say nothing of all the times I glued my fingers together when placing those spikes. I even painted eyes!

Horridus went to fellow customizer SAMhain -- I hope she enjoys her new home. Miss you, girl.

I'm also considering using one Daredevil glove and one hand from another figure (maybe even one of the Wolverine hands) for an asymmetrical look... but I can't imagine another sitch where I'd just want to use one Daredevil glove, so I probably won't do that.
If it's Ninja Turtles related, the size in relation tp Casey, actually would make for an excellent Shadow as a teen.

Eyyyyy, guys! It's been forever!

So I made a TMNT-related custom for last year's Fwoosh Secret Santa event. Dig it: IDW Shredder.

The last two pics were taken by Shinigami Customs -- he was the lucky recipient of ol' tin grin.

Aaaand I don't have any WIP shots, but the basics: Shredder is a Marvel Select (comic) Drax with arms from NECA SFIV Ryu. Armor is modified from Playmates Super Shredder; helmet is cut from a 2K3 Armorized Shredder. Feet from a Lanard Dragon-Do figure (Krane, apparently).

Thanks for looking!

Thanks for the kudos, Optimus Primer and TheCanadiandrome! While we're at it, let's have another...

So this is actually one I started a reaaaally long time ago -- like, nearly a decade ago. Back then I did a couple of Foot Ninjas using Spectacular Spider-Man bases and mostly finished this one then as well, but for variety I wanted this one to have a cloth gi and belt. And... I didn't get around to that part of the equation until a few weeks ago. But it's finished, and the Shredder has one more recruit for his ranks. Huzzah!

Anyway, Spectacular Spider-Man figure (black costume, version 2), sculpted glove cuffs and pant poofs (and added calf swivels below), and cloth gi. Black elastic for the belt. Simple and effective.

Long time! Just thought I'd post a WIP shot of a minor project I've got going on -- splicing joints into the Mutant Mayhem Turtles to give them hinged, pivoting ankles and adding wraps to cover the joins (see Leo's one ankle). I'm also doing very minor shading work on the bodies, as seen with Leo. Not sure how I'll go about that with Mike, since he's so dark and I expect this technique won't be as visible on him, but we'll see! Also debating removing the black linework on the faces and/or whiting out the eyes... but I really don't want to make this too much more involved than it needs to be.
