Paul Rudd has joined the film. I'm very positive that he will do some hilarious stuff in it.

Why are people so sure that Rick Moranis wouldn't want to be involved? He's not fully retired, he still does small things here and there even as recently as this year.

I would love to see him return in a small role in the film.

Anyway, Reitman makes great films and I ****ing LOVE Paul Rudd, I think this is going to be the return to form Ghostbusters fans thought would never happen.

Seriously, anyone who hasn't seen Thank You For Smoking, Juno, Up In The Air, Young Adult, Tully... get busy catching up.

I think mostly because of his rationale for not being involved after being invited to cameo in the Ghostbusters 2016 reboot. He said something to the effect of, "Why would I want to revisit this old thing I did 30 years ago? What for?"

Ghostbusters 2020 Passes the Torch to “Actual Descendants” of Original Ghostbusters

https://comicbook.com/horror/2019/09...s-dan-aykroyd/

Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters 2020, sequel to father Ivan Reitman’s original Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II, will hand the mantle to a new generation and the “actual descendants” of the original Ghostbusters, reveals producer Dan Aykroyd.

“Well, we really need to hand it to a new generation, and we didn’t do that,” Aykroyd told ET Canada of Paul Feig’s female-led reboot. “And although the girls’ movie kept the concept and the ideas alive — it was really good, they were great in it — it wasn’t like giving it to the new generation, the actual descendants of the original Ghostbusters. So we’re going to link to the DNA, old and new there.”

Ivan Reitman, also involved as producer, says his son’s sequel will “expand” the original iteration of the franchise with a return to the continuity established in 1984’s Ghostbusters.

“I think it’s a wonderful story that people continue to be interested in, 35 years after we came out with the first one,” Reitman said. “And I think we’re trying to expand it a little bit, and I think Jason’s movie does that.”

Unlike the reboot — led by Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones and Kate McKinnon as the new foursome of Ghostbusters — this third entry in the franchise is about a family.

“We don’t have four new men. No, this is a story about a family,” Reitman said, adding, “I don’t think gender is going to be an issue in this movie at all.”

The absolutely coolest episode of TRG was the one that showed the first post-Gozer fight where they had to get the new uniforms because the movie uniforms turned into ghost-replicas of the team. I always loved that episode...

Huh. So the whole movie might end up revolving around Egon's death, in some way. That's what I'm getting out of this.

Such a shame too because it was, as I understand it at least, Ramis and Akroyd who really wanted a third movie, but was being tangled up by Murray sort of being a primadonna about it. Then Ramis passed away.

That sounds about right, though I have yet to actually see any proof that any of the Aykroyd drafts that they were trying to court Murray with were actually any good. People tend to gloss over that.
