The Conclusion!
It's been a fun ride, folks! Here's the conclusion (for now, at least)!
http://oldmanwinters.deviantart.com/#/d4e7tmb Yes, I realize Klunk the cat was never a part of the Fred Wolf cartoon's universe, but I thought it would be a nice amalgamation to mix in from across the TMNT multiverse. And some of those cats that appeared in "The Cat Woman from Channel Six" episode looked awfully similar to Klunk's design in the 4Kids cartoon, didn't they? Being only a 12-page comic, I wanted to have a "happy ending" resolution in keeping with the tone of the original cartoon and to give myself a feeling of satisfaction in case I never got around to doing another issue. The final page isn't terribly original, but I think it is a logical resolution and it satisfies me in terms of character development. I debated with whether or not to end the comic with a surprise 13th page that might throw the whole happy resolution into doubt. Believe it or not, that 13th page is already drawn up and is in the coloring and editing stage! I've decided to keep this 12th page as the "official ending" for now, but sometime next week I intend to upload the finished 13th page as an "alternate ending." I do plan on doing more TMNT fan comics and already have a story outline for 2 more issues. If I can get around to a 4th issue, I'll try to build upon the events of this story and the "alternate ending" might just become the true ending!

you know... that raises a question... has the comics/cartoon ever brought up how Splinter felt about keeping a pet cat around?

Don't take this the wrong way, but I think the last scene would have worked better if Klunk was curled up on Splinter's lab, with him petting him or scratching behind his ears...all in all awesome short, and mostly silent story!

Thanks! I'm glad people were able to get some enjoyment out of my little pet project. Quote:
It might be a nice scene, indeed. It probably would have been harder for me to draw. Plus, I liked the idea of cat and the rat eating together. I sorta had the visual image of Isaiah 65:25 in my mind when I planned it out. Also, I think this was the best idea I had for also getting the TV in the shot.

Oy! The demands that come with making comics!
I've got the next two issues written out, but the actual layouts are giving me trouble at this point. Perhaps some rewrites are in order...

I've got an idea where I'd like to go with it, a direction that will probably involve certain bizarre characters from the Fred Wolf cartoon... assuming it all makes sense when I write it up some day.

Another DevArt user, CelineDGD agreed to compose a neat little poem inspired by my fan comic. I thought it might be worth sharing. Maybe one day I'll go back and try to work it into the actual work in the form of narration:
"Splinter Fears..." By Celine DGD Quote:

Well done on all accounts. The style is of the '87 series while the turtles skin shade is from the action figures and Klunk and the Foot Mystics of the 2003 series. It was fun little tale. I saw this as it was being done as a lurker so I am just know getting to the praising of this work. Hope to see a follow up and yes nice poem as a compliment to this great piece.
