I can't pretend I'm above it either. I want to see Doctor Doom and Galactus on the big screen as much as anyone else, and this is probably the only way it's going to happen without somebody totally screwing it up.

I feel I have to argue against monopolization on principal, but it's not easy when you have to go to bat for boobs like 20th Century Fox and Sony Pictures.

Yeah, it's really scary how much Disney owns now. And the whole "yay FF in MCU", that would have happened in a couple of years anyway when the rights would be returned. FF and X-Men is barely just icing for Disney when it comes to all the other stuff Fox have in their library.

No it wouldn't have (I mean, assuming there wasn't some quiet deal with Marvel behind the scenes during all of this). Fox had plans for another Fantastic Four reboot down the line to, if nothing else, keep the rights secured:

Only one explanation I can think of: to be able to gift Fantastic Four to Disney/Marvel with a nice legal ribbon. In exchange for Legion and Gifted, possibly some "here's the difference" kind of money to sweeten the pot.
Constantin still holds the film rights. I assume Disney would take control of Fox's co-distribution and production deal with Constantin. Either way, if Marvel Studios really wants a F4 movie they'll strike a deal with Constantin.

The Legion/Gifted stuff is nonsense. They didn't trade anything. Marvel Television is producing both shows.

I really hate this. Rumors are that Disney is going to significantly decrease the output from Fox movies. Wonder what this means for Fox Searchlight and FX.

Since the official press release mentions Fantastic Four specifically I'd say any issues with Constantin has been worked out.

I don't want to see that happen, not just Disney, other industries too.

Don't be so sure. I mean, the Fox-verse won't be grandfathered in at all, no way, but Kinberg himself has a lot of sway at Disney. Depending on Dark Phoenix's reception I wouldn't be too surprised to see his name attached to X-Men movies in some capacity.

I'm going to assume this acquisition means Marvel will stop trying to force the Inhumans on us.

Yep, people seem to like the little snitch. I don't think Feige will let him write or direct anything going forward. Hopefully he's only onboard as a producer.

We will see less movies, less risky movies, less properties being made, less interesting content.

But I guess that's too hard to grasp for most people so X-MEN IS BACK AT MARVEL THANKGOD!!111

Why do you say that? Fox was already crapping the bed with crappy Alien and Die Hard sequels.

The only thing they had going for them was the new Planet of the Apes movies.

And those movies ended with the last one, anyway.

I do wonder, though. Just one example: "The Predator" comes out in a few months... what logo will be attached to it? Not Fox, and not Disney either... so maybe Disney dusts off their Touchstone Pictures?
