Sh*t, that's awful. All the best, man, that's horrifying.

Oh my gosh... My family and I send our prayers your way, Kevin.
Are you and Angela alright? The news has been pretty nasty, in terms of the flooding down there... |

I'll be praying for you and your family Jest. Both you and your wife sound like you're going through a lot right now. Hopefully Trey will be alright and he can get to go back home soon.

Thanks everyone. He still nursing that concussion but the doctors are pretty optimistic and last night he did open his eyes for a little while and was crying a bit...all good signs...and right now he's kicking the bed as I type this message. He's fighting and being so strong. Really all we can do is wait and see how he's healing. Still trying to process how the accident all went down, and kicking myself for even leaving the house in the first place. With the weather (which had stopped raining but was still super windy) and the known issues with the highway we should have just stayed home...but then again mom keeps telling me it could have happened on a normal day just as easy.
Thanks for all the kind words and thoughts/prayers. Does my heart good to know I've got people all over doing what all they can. Keep him and his neighbors here at the PICU in prayer...the other kiddos are even younger than my guy.

Thanks all. Today is a day off good reports. His blood level normalized so no need for a transfusion. Loved on his teddy for comfort. Had an MRI without sedation. Started talking...even if he was angry most of the time and demanding his neck brace be removed. Looks like he's making good strides all things considered.

Glad the recovery seems to be moving along without a hitch, Jester. It sounds like our boys are close to the same age; I can't even imagine how hard it must be for you right now. Hang in there, brother!

Moved on up to the 5th floor where he'll begin in house rehab for however long it takes for him to be able to finally head home. Keep praying for our little guy. He stays awake longer now (one of the many symptoms of a head injury is sleepiness) and he's saying full sentences. Before out move, a speech therapist asked him to throw a ball to see if he could listen to instructions and threw it. Using the same balk he asked if Trey could say ball. He said he can't. The therapist pushed, "Can't say what?" "Can't say ball."
Every little thing bring him 1 step closer to going home and returning to normalcy.

Warning wall of text .
By little bits every day. Today was his first day of physical and occupational therapy outside of his own room. He did really well. Before we went we let him ride in his stroller around the unit. We thought about it for a little bit and decided now is a good time to let his younger cousin see him. During PT and OT he threw and kick a ball sometimes at his mom and me and that made him laugh even though it looks like that might have hurt a little bit. He also did some other physical games to see how far along is coming. He played with the puzzle and some smaller balls and they looked to see if he can grab them from her and put it back. His eye that's been swollen shut since about the second day finally opened today so we get to see both of those beautiful blue eyes. Later we went for two more strolls around the unit and even stopped in the play room for him to do a little bit of active play to see how he's doing. One of the toys in the playroom was a solar system puzzle and we let him play with it since he loves space. When asked he grabbed earth out of the puzzle with his good hand. We tried to have him do stuff with his weaker hand but he still always defaults to his right hand. All these little things are adding up to big things and were truly blessed and know that God is working in this terrible incident. Please keep all the prayers and happy thoughts coming guys they are really helping.

In little bits every day but they are really adding up. Hopefully he'll be going home soon. Not sure when, it's all a matter of how much progress he makes at his own pase.
